He seems sturdy enough (my last real NECA QC issue was back in the first series of the Aliens line, so I've been pretty satisfied with them) and there's a solid range of movement from most joints. They mention that it is a great figure with an amazing likeness and comes complete with all his interchangeable weapons. I couldn't tell you what Ash's shoes looked like in the first movie off hand but this seems to be a pretty good replica of them as far as I can tell.The jacket itself is yellowed and filthy, like it’s been drenched in piss and OH MY GOD, I JUST REMINDED MYSELF OF THE SCENE WITH KELLY AND THE BEDPAN. I really expected this figure to just be a throwaway to pad out the wave, but I’m having a blast with him.
It’s a great look for him and it makes him appear as if he’s been stalking the halls of the Asylum and fighting its inhabitants for years.While I was messing around with this figure and writing the review I really kept wanting to watch the original film.
Please do not send your purchase back to the manufacturer unless specified by ourselves Geek Bureau Ltd. They regularly included references to Ash and the Evil Dead films, particularly to Army of Darkness, and had lots of appearances and quotes from Bruce Campbell. The legs have rotating hinges in the hips, double rotating hinges in the knees, and both hinges and lateral rockers in the ankles.Two minor nitpicks are that the shotgun is strangely small (the barrels are as thin as his fingers), and that it doesn't include a base. Unlike the kiddies, this fella has an ashen colored skin, making him look a bit like he’s made out of stone.
Anyway, this version of Ash is from Episode 8, where he’s fashioned himself a new set of battle fatigues from the remains of a straight jacket. You also get two different head sculpts, which means not counting the bloody Ash variant, I have a total of six different Ash heads just from the TV series, as two came with Hero Ash and two came with Value Stop Ash.
