Totally agree on all your review points except that the backpack is poorer quality than our Bic came with. What really sets the NRS Thrive apart from the ISUP competition, though, is its built-in pressure relief valve that will protect you from over inflation. The Body Glove Performer inflatable stand up paddle board has a unique and interesting shape and design.
To give you another way to use your paddle board, nab a 3-piece kayak-style paddle and sit on top of your board. As far as dislikes go, we’d love to see a grab handle at the tail which would really come in handy whenever you’re pulling the board in and out of the water. The mountain graphics and the two-tone material design looks fantastic in person, and the foam deck is cushy yet grippy for bare feet or water shoes. Putting this 24-pound board in and out of the water and lifting it on top of a vehicle would be easier with nose and tail handles and at least one handle on the side.It has that moderate stability I just talked about, it cruises along nicely but isn't a speed demon, it tracks well but could probably do better with a longer center fin (but that could create a problem in shallow or rocky waters), it spins well when you want it to, and it's quite versatile in terms of conditions. There is one stainless steel D-ring on each side of the carry handle that can be used as tie down points. Hi, I really like this board, however when I pumped it with air it seems like the pressure gauge doesn’t really work.
One of the kids even dropped the board off of our boat onto some sharp rocks and the only damage we found can be seen below on the foot padding. Yes, but it means it’s not as competitive as some other high-end ISUPs, particularly those that include interchangeable fins and go up to 20 psi. We found it worked best on still water, but the sharp nose and relatively low profile allow it to be used in choppier waters. I found this new and improved Performer 11' iSUP to be very stable and efficient to paddle through flat water but thanks to the rockered nose it was also fun to surf on river waves and holes. This isn’t a deal-breaker, but I personally would much rather have grab handles than the plastic tow-point Body Glove included.
It's for anyone who wants to go out on flatwater to enjoy the day, or challenge themselves on a river with light or even moderate current (like I personally experienced). In about a month of testing, I’ve not only paddled on the Performer myself, but I’ve also seen it everywhere — it is hands down one of the paddleboards I recognize most frequently out on lakes around Denver, Boulder, and along the Front Range.
If you’re rough on your gear, I recommend that you place the included pump near the fins inside the included carry case backpack. The reinforced nose bumper is a unique feature to this ISUP and one more thing that makes this board ideal for families with kids.
Smaller paddlers could adjust the backpack bag reasonably well to sit correctly on their backs, but it hit the back of their heads if tightened correctly.
If you decide to go that route, there are videos on YouTube that do a nice job of walking you through the process. That said, the single fin helps to reduce the amount that the board shifts from side to side while paddling.
