About this deal

A rousing retelling of a singular event, as seen through the eyes of three leaders on a momentous trek, this latest historical novel by Iggulden will be of interest to both young and old readers of military and ancient history. The armies of Rome will face each other at last in civil war, led by the two greatest generals ever to walk the seven hills.

Political opposition, family quarrels, armed rebellions and corruption make this a highly contemporary scene, fuelled by the intrigue of the major characters, who are now developing as full adults.

When a sudden catastrophe brings Sparta to its knees, Pericles sees a golden opportunity to forever shift the balance of power in his city’s favour. In 2010, media coverage emerged of a proposed film, Emperor: Young Caesar, about the early life of Julius Caesar, covering the years from 92 BC to 71 BC, and based on the first two novels of Iggulden's Emperor series, The Gates of Rome and The Death of Kings. For years I’ve been interested in reading his books, and from what I’ve gathered, his Conqueror series seems to be the most often regarded as his best works by his readers.

Khan: Empire of Silver is the fourth and penultimate installment in the Conqueror series by Conn Iggulden. In each and every book/ series there will be times after I have read a book, when I will refer to the real history to find out more about the real people and events. Who, by the way, is not shy about investing you in a character three books long and terminating them not in any way you would expect, but…oh, I did say no spoilers.
