I picture the Halaton Woman of 1975 in her leather halter romper, hair, stunning hair long and wavy golden shimmering. Eau de Cologne is one of the best-known fragrances by Halston and the signature scent of many a woman. The real showstopper is just before we reach this coda: a gregarious, bright, somewhat sour tagetes marigold that keeps all of its floral brethren in check and escorts them all into the inky and beautifully coarse dry down.

One side is dark, damp and disquieting with its mosses while its counterpart of sweetness brings one back to better moments. Just to note what others have that said it smelled like it was rancid, I had the same experience, at first.

Can't wait for cold weather (for oh-so-many fragrance reasons) so that I can layer it with Halston Amber.

Green and minty with a touch of melon and citrus to begin with, eventually becoming a marigold, carnation, amber, oakmoss and patchouli bomb. I understand that what I smell is slightly or even totally different from the original formulas, but I definetely believe that this fragrant is a piece of art for it's own sake if not compared to anything, not even to it's origins. It's hard to pick out any individual notes - very well blended - but if you smell close you can pick out a tang of ylang ylang and a soft haze of incense in the background.As time goes on the woodiness starts to emerge but there is a lingering tar smell, bitter and pungent. I acquired a sample of this by accident, I wanted to try the silver Halston perfume from 2009 and got Halston Classic instead. I purchased Halston to satisfy one of those I-need-a-new-perfume-now urges as well as out of curiosity.
