They also double as great quality media speakers for casual music listening, playing video games or watching video.Sure they're small, low powered and "only" go down to 55Hz (-3dB) and their 3" woofers won't do subs or move tons of air but that's not the intended purpose, they are (very) near field speakers. This desk EQ tries real hard, and almost get it right, but does not boost the treble at all, and the boost is centered right at 2kHz, making a flaw in the speaker's natural response way worse. Alas, it was a hurried process giving me just 5 seconds to run back from the back of the speaker to my listening chair. The randomness of the DSP limiter for bass makes these speakers very hard to recommend for the intended purpose of monitoring. Even though I’d heard about the iLoud monitors’ capabilities before turning them on, nothing can quite prepare you for that moment. Depending on the studio, the speakers can be positioned in either direction, and are also fitted with fold-out stands to facilitate separation from a desk or shelf. The real problem tonally that could be fixed with EQ is the boundary gain, where the woofer and it's reflection start acting like one source.
