About this deal
This is the perfect entry product for anyone curious about berry lipstick but not quite ready for a matte, full-coverage formula. I'd definitely use Highway 66 (a pale green balm that turns into a light peach) as an everyday lip balm —you can swipe it on without a mirror, which is a requirement I now have for all of my lip balms since moving to New York. I remember when Besame had some ups and downs as well; I'm not sure about the health of the Julie Hewett brand. I felt compelled to comment on this post, as I own and really enjoy two LQ lipsticks, both in the Saints formula: Fire Red, and Rust. I have repurchased that green one (cleverly named Frog Prince) more times than I can count and I’ve given it as gifts just as many times – because it’s foolproof since it reacts with each individual’s body!
Don't be fooled by the deep green hue of this semi-sheer lipstick - the green reacts with the warmth of your lips turning them an intense, fairy tale rose.If you're going for a more subtle look, one swipe of berry lipstick adds the sheerest purple tint to your lips. Once again, if you’re deep enough in lipstick addiction to want a sheer black, you probably own not only a nude or neutral pink, but also a slightly darker version of that nude or neutral pink. I used to really enjoy the LQ line, but the recent foray into the gimicky side of make-up marketing has definitely turned me off some.
Here's how I, not a scientist, would explain it: there are ingredients within the formulas that react to the pH level of the wearer's lips. The color shifted to a rosy pink and because the product is a balm, my lips stayed hydrated for a few hours. My least favorite of all the shades I’ve tried, but that’s personal preference as I tend to gravitate towards corals and pinks moreso than berry hues. Like Frog Prince this is very moisturising and leaves your lips soft and hydrated - I say this as someone who has only ever been able to use Vaseline as usual lipsticks leave me with dry and unsightly lips - this is the only brand on lipstick I can and will ever wear now.
The best thing about Lipstick Queen's color-changing lipsticks is the formula, which feels more like a balm than a lipstick. I barely ever wear makeup (even less so in the panorama) but I'm almost out of my beloved Frog Prince lipstick.
