About this deal

Finally, Allo changed the clocks to the latest from NDK (ultralow jitter SDA) that have lower phase noise than the previous generations. I later introduced the LPS and the battery bank to the DigiOne Signature to see if the results improved, keeping the original still on the SMPS. The Allo DigiOne Signature is a networked S/PDIF converter built on top of Raspberry Pi single board computer.

This mini computer is equipped with capabilities perfectly suited for audiophile use with its Quad Core 1. There is constant drops both with spotify and airplay even with latest firmware and no commitment on chromecast yet.I suppose if you have an old DAC or a poorly engineered one which is susceptible to analog electrical interference over its USB input, you might want something more like the USBridge device. Then a side note, we got various reports (and I was not able to re-create that situation in my system, or just did not notice) that on some systems, when changing sample rate, the first bits of a songs were not being played.

It supports DLNA/UPnP, Roon endpoint, Squeezebox and LMS, and much more, even your 3D printer with OctoPrint. Now, I’m fully aware that most people believe that digital is digital, it can’t be polluted and it needs no filtering or any kind of fixing. When you use the internal WiFi of the Pi, or like me use a small USB Nano WiFi dongle, you have all the wires exiting on one side, facing the rear of your desk, hiding the wires and looking super neat. This player is configured with RPi 4 B, and not RPi 3, presumably this will not be a problem for Roon ( I did say I was out of my depth lol! So, my first step was trying to understand why Allo released an S/PDIF transport that costs about 3 times than similar gear: I know them too better to think they are overpricing, or adding useless components to their boards, so I was curious to see the rationale behind their choice.Schiit Wyrd is the USB regenerator that cleans your USB signal a bit, but in my experience, its effects were very limited and its value not so great. It will connect directly to the GPIO of your Raspberry Pi 2 / 3 / 4 to improve the performance of your system, lowering the jitter to a minimum. Whilst it’s hard to imagine a JustBoom owner being disappointed by the sound of the Digi HAT, if you’re able to stretch your budget, the Allo DigiOne board delivers disproportionately more of the good stuff. Equipped with a DIR WM8805 chip, it ensures the digital transfer of the Raspberry Pi with High Fidelity.
