About this deal

If someone took a look at the spec sheet of the AF-7/8 they would surely be left unimpressed: The lens is a fixed triplet with a focal length of 35mm and a slow max. Everything on the right are raw pictures, and everything on the left are edited according to my preferences 😜. in daylight, but I have a couple of cameras already loaded with film and my shooting pace has dropped significantly lately. There were a couple of occasions when the camera missed the focus on close subjects as the subject was too close, but I also ignored the warning lights in the viewfinder that told me the subject was too close and not in focus. Since then I've been exploring the Sure Shot line and not a single model I've tried has disappointed (although my personal favorites are the Owl and its variants, like the AF8).

We offer a wide range of new and used 35mm film cameras and accessories from brands like Contax, Yashica, Leica, Olympus, Pentax, Canon, and Nikon. In practical use, the Canon Sure Shot Zoom XL functions much as any other point and shoot film camera from the late-1980s and ’90s, offering nothing that would surprise photographers who are familiar with the type. Before investing in a “proper” film camera, I have tried out 2 different disposable film cameras: Kodak FunSaver Single-Use Film Camera and the FUJIFILM 35mm Simple Ace. As I’ve said, it was free anyway, and the film was very cheap – so what did it matter if the snaps didn’t come out very good? Well, the dial control (and the VF) is what made all the difference for me, otherwise the "other" AF-7 is the exact same camera regarding technical specifications.I have to say that I never got a bad photo from it though obviously, they were only snaps and nothing gravely important. The finder was excellent, and it felt like it was made to a decent standard… but when you are not feeling it, what can you do? Put another way, the lens of the SURE SHOT Z135 is the sharpest of any compact zoom I have ever used – the Olympus MJU III 80 and MJU V were are close, but there is a perceptible jump in overall image quality here. com are the exclusive property of the named author (except where stated otherwise) and are protected by copyright.

While not as compact or as luxurious as the many newer, sleeker point-and-shoots, and while it lacks the cachet that comes with being seen on the red carpet, this Sure Shot Tele quietly delivers. To zoom in or out, we use the cute and convenient two buttons on the front of the camera, positioned just where our left hand would naturally sit when holding the camera with two hands. Shooting, carrying and traveling with one is essentially the same as doing so with a 35mm SLR or modern mirror-less camera. It also has a tilt-feature on the bottom of the camera, something that only a few of the Canon point and shoot cameras have. Build quality is very good and the feel and chunky size of the camera leave no doubt in my mind it will work for a long time. That was 3 years ago and I’ve still not put a roll through it as my collection of 60s-70s rangefinders seems to take preference. Some of my favourites are these colour images from Chongqing, China, and a monochrome photo essay I made in Qingdao, also in China. Exposure latitude of slide film is really minimal so the exposure range limitations of the camera became readily apparent, something that probably wouldn’t have been the case if negative film had been used.

If you are not feeling your Cute Camera, just send it back within 30 days and we will take care of the rest. The grip itself is made of a good material that your hand can easily hold, and I don’t see it deteriorating any time soon. There are a couple of ergonomic design features that are easy to miss when looking at the camera but are revealed when it comes to handling it.elements in 3 groups) lens, but a downside I've noticed with the Sleek is that the auto wind sound is a loud as a tractor starter motor. This image was taken in bright sunlight, so the aperture was quite small, making most of the photograph appear in focus. I have put electrical tape over the flash (in case I forget to press the button three times to disable flash each time I switch on). The Ace has a built-in lens cover, which is opened by moving a small switch that turns on the camera at the same time. When this happens in the camera’s normal operating distance of one meter to infinity, the green light illuminates solid.

Focus was best on close at short or mid range but a bit soft at distance (still better than the Olympus Superzoom 80S). If you’re the kind of person who wants a bulky norm-core point and shoot over a bulky norm-core SLR, the Zoom XL shouldn’t disappoint. Film photographers looking for a compact camera should look elsewhere – point and shoots from the late ’90s and 2000s were much smaller and, frankly, better.Although I’m old enough to have most of my life’s important moments captured on film, it wasn’t until digital cameras became widely available in the early 00’s that I started taking photography a bit more seriously. No, there’s nothing about it that makes it worth recommendation above endless piles of other similarly simple and essentially quite poor cameras. As you’re taking a shot, if you hold down the shutter button, it will refrain from winding on to the next frame until you release it.
