I looked online to see if they had it and it said it wasn’t available for pick up and there weren’t even any reviews for it.

But it was a sufficiently goofy fun time to have us more fondly remembering the classic films it reminds us of than bemoaning the waste of a title that the Sam Jackson and Asylum peers certainly had us doing. So regardless of how you prefer to consume your media these days, the home video release date is just around the corner. Fans are going to find this to be a very high quality UHD image that suits the movie extraordinarily well. There’s still plenty of life left in the Blu-ray format, and it’s more than adequate to give a film like Cocaine Bear the consideration that it deserves.

Set in the mid-eighties, Cocaine Bear opens with a man throwing duffle bags out of a cargo plane before then parachuting out himself. A film where a group of characters try to avoid a cocaine bear, while trying to battle the side effects of the cocaine they have just taken, would have been much more fun, but instead it feels like the actors forgot they’ve ingested a fair bit of cocaine. The primary reaction I’ve had from people when I told them what I thought of Cocaine Bear is one of credulity.

For the week that ended on April 29th, Lionsgate Home Entertainment's Jesus Revolution topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its debut. Namechecking creature feature classics such as Tremors and Lake Placid were for once not idle boasts. It’s not like Mediumrare had to create an Atmos track, one already existed…so the only reasons to think of why it wasn’t included were rights issues (annoying) or cost (even more annoying). There’s a lot of appreciable depth and excellent, deep, strong bass response noticeable throughout the movie as well. These are further unhindered by the pristine image source – no pesky grain to obscure any of the fine detail underneath. for the ages and its maybe not the film that the late Hollywood legend Ray Liotta, cameoing here in all his pantomime finery with an outrageous mullet and shades combo, wanted to cap his long and at times very distinguished career with.

Taken together, there’s plenty of interesting material contained in those two true stories that could be used to craft a genuinely fascinating feature film—and that’s not even including some of the bizarre ancillary stories surrounding what came to be known as the “Bluegrass Conspiracy. Below, European backpackers Olaf (Kristofer Hivju) and Elsa (Hannah Hoekstra) enjoy a hike through the woods of rural Tennessee when they’re attacked by a raging bear.

Ordinarily, the lack of a 4K Ultra HD release for a new title like Cocaine Bear would be a disappointment, especially considering the fact that it appears to have been produced as a 4K DI. The idea presented by Banks, portraying the bear as the innocent party here, just retaliating against a bunch of idiots trampling through his home, is an interesting concept but heavily underdeveloped. It’s an often frustrating experience, because Banks has experience in both comedy ( Wet Hot American Summer) and horror ( Brightburn) and even a successful horror comedy ( Slither) and yet tonally this is all over the place. The colors are equally well-defined, with strong saturation that never pushes past the point of oversaturation, and the contrast range is excellent.
