The British started distilling rum in Guyana in the 17th century and it's one of the country's signature products. On the nose this rum has strong flavours such as dark coffee, candied orange, almonds and dark chocolate. Strain into a coupe, garnish with an orange twist if you dare to up your ingredient count, and sip a slightly tropical, but still very serious, libation. Sadly by 1999 Demerara Distillers Limited was the only remaining active distillery, but their rich history remains here in their El Dorado 15-Year-Old Rum. These tests reveal if there has been a density change in the liquid, which could be the result of additives being present.The distinctive El Dorado flavour is characterised by a deep mellowness, a product of over 300 years of tine-honoured tradition to masterfully coax out rich and complex flavours to create this sophisticated spirit.
