About this deal

I believe that this is the same audio mix found on the Mill Creek Blu-ray, but don’t quote me on that! Although the end product arguably fails at completely pulling it off, credit should be given nonetheless to the filmmakers for at least trying to make a psychological horror flick actually be about something and explore some intriguing existential questions about this corporeal existence and our collective, deep-seated desire for something beyond. Kiefer Sutherland ( Stand By Me) stars as Nelson, the leader of the pack who is confident enough to not be a dick to his friends and treats them with respect, unless you count that whole putting them in danger by running a death experiment and withholding information about the side effects. Nelson sees a key memory from his childhood in which he and his friends mistakenly killed a young boy, Billy Mahoney (Joshua Rudoy). It would have been nice to get some insight from Schumacher or some of the cast members, but that didn’t happen – still, to Arrow’s credit, what’s here is interesting and those who want to know more about the film will be able to do just that by checking these featurettes out.

The location where the flatliners conduct their dangerous experiment also accentuates the questions they are trying to answer. If you are one of the many fans of Flatliners, snagging the Arrow Video edition comes down to a few factors: do you already own it, what are the bonus features, and is the 4K UHD edition worth it. HDR color grading and confrom by colorist Sheri Eisenberg at Roundabout Entertainment, Santa Monica. It's a very dark looking picture that has a strange visual style to it but at the same time, the look is both appropriate for and complimentary to the story being told (and in a lot of ways it is very reminiscent of the director's work on The Lost Boys). Though its flaws can sometimes be obvious, the storyline is decent enough to keep us involved and there is some suspense here even if it all falls apart in the end. They consistently discuss the film while watching it together, with Reesman primarily providing real-life factoids about filming locations and the cast and crew, while Evry focuses a little more on the cinematography and the content of the film. With the future star-studded cast, the classic 90s film tone bleeds through and director Joel Schumacher was able to leave his mark with what is now a cult classic. Robert's favorite genres include horror (foreign and domestic), Asian cinema and pornography (foreign and domestic).

At the behest of Nelson Wright (Sutherland), four of medical school classmates — David Labraccio (Bacon), Rachel Mannus (Roberts), Joe Hurley (Baldwin), and Randy Steckle (Platt) — gather in secret one night to help him stop his heart long enough to see if he can cross over to whatever lie beyond the mortal plane of existence. Sony Pictures has sent us a brand new international trailer for director Niels Arden Oplev's upcoming film Flatliners (2017), starring Nina Dobrev, Kiersey Clemons, Ellen Page, James Norton, and Diego Luna. This makes the film gain an extra aesthetic layer, going deeper into the religious and somewhat displaced feeling that Rachel expresses. None of these featurettes are brief and each provide a distinct educational experience for any Flatliners or general film fan. Each of the featurettes follows a similar pattern of discussing the subject’s personal involvement with the film, offering anecdotes on either the cast or smaller details of production (sometimes both), and providing recognition of appreciation toward Schumacher.Schumacher keeps things on track, narrowly avoiding several plot holes by moving things at a brisk pace and maintaining a stylistic music video design with the help of ace cinematographer Jan De Bant ( Die Hard). Instead, it joins others, like The Thing (1982), which are far more thoughtful and complex in their ideas, even if the execution doesn’t crawl under my skin as expected. For example, Joe Eszterhas and the insane amounts of money he received for scripts that are mostly forgotten today never comes up.
