I can’t say I liked or got closed to any of the characters as there are way too many for my liking and maybe it felt harder to keep up with everyone in the end. Inconsistencies in the story timeline (live episode was airing on July 4th, yet it refers to it being 9 months after Christmas) and also in the characters ages. Yes, when Ruthless Women topped the Sunday Times Bestsellers chart and then was translated into 9 foreign languages, turning it into a global hit book.
It’s difficult to say too much without spoiling it, but what I will say is 1, I hope there is another book and 2, it definitely feels like the bad guys won the day. Each woman has a distinct character, and different issues that plagued their lives, whilst money can help, it fails to be the panacea to living a happy life. The women in these books, whether heroine or villain, are powerhouses; beautiful, fierce, ambitious and utterly compelling. Themes of sisterhood and female empowerment running through every page, particularly within the bond that our quintet of narrators share. This novel has the vibe of a 70's blockbuster in the vein of a Jackie Collins or a Harold Robbins rather than a continuous series such as the soon to be departed Neighbours or Coronation Street, though it does have some gritty Eastenders touches!
The ending has left me asking whether we have seen the last of these fabulous women, I am sincerely hoping not. It definitely will be brought to the screens no question and I believe in many languages and many different countries because it’s been bought by so many different territories. She is at the end of her tether, her relationship with Elsie is unravelling, and she is tired of being the responsible parent to Frank's fun parent, although she does love him to bits. But they are also flawed and complex, making terrible decisions that I couldn’t condone yet the author still had me rooting for them every step of the way. Revenge, guilt, powerful strong women, power plays, schemes, sex and a whole lot more has turned this book from a story about a soap, to a set of storyline that would certainly work well on a big or smaller screen.

I choose this book primarily due to the cover and the title and I thought this would be a good listen.It's an interesting story with intriguing characters, one too many for me, but a book that maybe it's worth reading just because it's more outside of the norm. Overall, it's entertaining in parts, it's over the top but an easy read and would probably be an ideal book to take to the beach. But one of the group is so filled with guilt over her part in the TV-executive’s death that she’s threatening to crack. The Premium Fragrance are full strength (Eau De Parfum) and NOT Eau De Toilette, meaning that these are long lasting scents.
The only women that seem to be celebrated as older actresses are the ones that really have been at the top of the tree for a very long time.
