About this deal

Hide and Seek is extremely well plotted and considering the amount of characters to keep track of this is no mean feat. the only reason I took a star off is that I had to concentrate a lot, sometimes having to go back some pages, to understand who everyone was. Before all of the moving boxes are unpacked, Joanna learns that a three-year-old girl who disappeared while playing HIDE AND SEEK thirty-three years prior had resided in the same house.

Joanna is determined to find out more about Lily and the circumstances of her disappearance, not least because Joanna is harbouring secrets of her own that may have some bearing on the unsolved case. From that moment onwards, a sense of dread seems to follow her from room to room and Joanna is determined to unravel the mystery of Lily’s disappearance by tapping into uncomfortable memories and flashbacks from her childhood which she’d rather keep hidden. It moves back and forth between the 80s and present day effortlessly, and the authentic depiction of the characters and their conversations made for such an engaging experience. Hide and Seek is an unputdownable book and one I would recommend to any thriller lover who is looking for a book to keep them on the edge of their seat.By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. Because Joanna thinks she knows what really happened to Lily - and if the truth gets out, it might be her undoing. But the whole community needs to look within and Joanna may be the catalyst needed to solve the mystery once and for all.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Random House UK, Transworld Publishers for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review. All strings were tied up by the end but we're left to decide about one particular plot point, in a deliciously wicked way. I was delighted to see that Andrea Mara had written a new book, given that the other three of hers that I've read have all been bangers. Many of the characters appear in both aspects of the story, mostly the people who are mothers then and grandmothers now, and those who were children in 1985 and grown-ups in 2018.Not to mention excelling in creating an attention-grabbing hook to ensure that the reader's attention is 'hooked' from the opening page. There are lots of characters in the story and there was the potential that the amount could have become overwhelming trying to keep track of who was who and how they connect to the overall plot but this didn’t happen at all. In 2018, Joanna loses her daughter in a game of hide and seek in the garden of her new suburban home. There isn’t a minute where you can sit back and relax because Andrea keeps the reader on the edge of their seat and gripped, constantly guessing what could have happened?

Her newest book, All Her Fault, will be published by Transworld | Penguin Random House in July 2021. Joanna feels compelled to find out more about the mystery of Lily’s disappearance - but as Joanna attempts to discover the truth from amongst her new community, it becomes clear that Joanna has plenty of her own secrets. and as Joanna gets talking to her mother -in-law they where good friends with the parents the Murphy s . She expertly ratchets up the tension in this single-sitting read, a nerve-shredder that will have you guessing right until the final unexpected twist.AND WHEN YOU OPEN THEM, YOUR CHILD IS GONEAs Joanna unravels the secrets at the heart of this close-knit community, her own dark past begins to resurface. There were a lot of interesting characters but I did sometimes get confused over who was who but nevertheless it gives plenty of suspects to point the finger at. What are people hiding and if they are keeping something close to their chest why are they doing so?

You won’t be at all disappointed and just want to read more and more from this wildly talented author. Joanna and her family move into a new home which they discover once belonged to a couple whose young daughter disappeared in the 1980s.When the answers come it is so not what you had in mind but it’s so well thought out in a cleverly executed executed plot? I’ve loved her previous books so I was delighted to get an advanced copy of Hide and Seek, prior to its release in August. It is so cleverly plotted with many characters whose lives overlap, though its written so well its easy to keep up. This was a great way to escape reality and I found myself devouring this book a lot faster than I thought I would. A story that grabbed from the initial disappearance and had me questioning everyone at one page or another!
