IK Multimedia iRig UA Guitar Effects Processor and Interface for Android

If you’re looking for a really high quality digital processing setup for guitar this isn’t it, but that would be an unrealistic expectation for 70 odd quid. iRig UA comes with AmpliTube UA, a full-featured version of the mobile guitar and bass tone studio that’s revolutionized the way musicians make music while on the go. Turning it on bypasses everything (in other words, you get a guitar signal straight to the headphones) until you’re in tune and you turn it off again. I connected a stereo phono to jack from my hifi amp which my turntable was connected to into the Irig UA, from there i connected the micro usb cable into my Samsung S7 phone to record the music into a quality format. Well, yes, you can just hook your guitar up to your device's headphone jack using something like IK's own iRig adaptor.

Inset into the lid is the quick start guide, a pamphlet with other IK products and the registration leaflet. It is very similar to IK Multimedia’s iRig2, but the UA adds a built in digital signal processor (DSP) that expands its capabilities to become a digital recording interface. Plus as an added performance feature, iRig HD 2 has an integrated microphone stand “clip” and Velcro strap so you can secure it to a mic stand on stage for live performance.I needed a gadget that worked on an android device to record my records into a quality digital music format, despite its intended use for guitars you can also use it to send any audio thru to a pc or android phone / tablet.

If you’ve got any familiarity with the PC version of AmpliTube, you’ll find this to be a bit of a letdown as you are able to place stomp effects wherever you like. I had hopes that the size and portability associated with it would allow me to drag my guitar to work so I could jam on my breaks. you get the full enchilada of amps, effects and cabinets modeled after amps from Orange, Mesa and a set of Jimi’s amps from the days when a legend roamed the earth. That’s why I was intrigued by IK Multimedia’s newest iRig UA guitar interface for Android, as well as AmpliTube UA (for future reference I’ll be referring to the device as the UA, and the software that goes with it simply as AmpliTube, although please don’t mistake it for the PC version). The iRig UA features a groundbreaking digital signal processor(DSP) within that solves the long standing issue that there are many different manufacturers and therefore different architectures that can cause latency in the operating system.Limited or not, class-compliant support means that third parties can finally build audio interfaces for Android that work with a wide range of devices. There’s also exclusive content available from IK’s immensely popular AmpliTube Slash and AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix™ collections. If you’re a bedroom rocker or someone that wants to branch out to jamming away from home, without a pile of gear to drag around, I’d say absolutely. The left-hand side of the unit itself, features a legend denoting where you plug in your guitar and headphones.
