About this deal

As Montgomery Bonbon- complete with beret, moustache, dubious European accent- she’s solved a wealth of crimes with Banks, her sidekick.

This is a delightful adventure for Montgomery Bonbon, the alter-ego of 10-year-old Bonnie Montgomery who merely applies a moustache, a beret and an obscure accent to solve mysteries. Ten-Year-old Bonnie Montgomery believes she is the world’s greatest detective although no one knows about her detective skill except her Grampa as she goes under the disguise of Montgomery Bonbon a distinguished gentleman with a French accent, fine clothes, and a moustache. Bonnie is an extremely clever young girl and one that can pull off being disguised as a short, but fully grown man. Their newest case: solving the mystery surrounding a highly suspicious death at the Hornville Museum.Beckett-King's other creative stuff but judging by the reaction of my grand-children ( the age group for which it is intended ) it is a very successful piece of writing. Candy Gourlay introduces Wild Song, her companion novel to Bone Talk, in which Luki and Samkad leave their home in the Philippines for America.

Murder at the Museum is a children’s humorous middle-grade story that is filled to the brim with exciting moments.

I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly! As well as the obvious inclusion of a somewhat conspicuous moustache, the story features the assembly of a cast of curious characters connected by mysterious truths, and has a big- reveal-climax that is thoroughly rewarding. As a solid four from me it definitely has broad appeal, and many a young reader will want the sequels to come "ASAP as possible".

It seems that no notebook will be left unfilled, no lemon sherbet left unsucked, for this is a case for Montgomery Bonbon! Crammed full of brilliant humour, wonderfully illustrated […] a wonderful shared read as adults will enjoy both the storyline and the delicious humour too. To celebrate the release of the brilliantly funny new children’s book Montgomery Bonbon: Murder at the Museum written by comedian Alasdair Beckett-King and illustrated by Claire Powell, we joined forces with Walker Books to create a fun, free museum trail for families! There are a host of interesting and suspicious characters on this strange island, but who is guilty and who is innocent? The door to the room where the murder took place has been locked from the inside and the only other access is a window that opens onto the museum roof.Like all perfect grandparents, he is quietly proud of Bonnie and loves secretly spoiling her and indulging her hobbies – even when Mum really doesn’t want him to. The characterisation is brilliant, Alasdair has created an original and intriguing cast of characters who you can't help but love.

The capers are great, and I enjoyed plunging into the nostalgia of watching Pirot when I was younger - the urge to don a bushy mustache, butcher an accent (I can't do any accent), and look for clues. Montgomery Bonbon and Grampa Banks make an excellent team and the age and experience of Banks definitely keeps Bonbon grounded and thinking clearly. Montgomery Bonbon is the super- sleuth pseudonym of a 10-year-old Bonnie, who loves nothing more than donning her lustrous moustache and getting to grips with a mystery. There's been a mysterious death at Leerie Lighthouse, and what everyone assumed was an accident is setting Bonbon's moustache all a-quiver: a sure sign that something is Highly Suspicious. Just when you thought you couldn’t read another great detective story, along comes Alasdair Beckett-King’s debut. But they might have heard of the great Montgomery Bonbon, the well-dressed gentleman detective who (apart from the hat and moustache) looks suspiciously like a 10-year-old girl. I will recommend this book to everyone, I only wish the next fifteen books in the series were already published!
