About this deal

This was the first book that I ever read on the infamous Moors Murderers and I must say that it has had me gripped and intrigued on the subject now since I first read it 26 years ago! Canadian fans are likely to compare Ian and Myra to our own famous murdering couple, Paul and Karla (I know I did! David Peace's West Riding quartet - 1974, 1977, 1980 and 1983 - is an ultra-noir crime series set in and around Leeds in the shadow of the Yorkshire Ripper murders. It was weird hearing his name on the news and it made me think even more about what I had garnered from this book.

It does not need to - the bare facts that they abducted these children, took them away, in some cases photographed and recorded them, and then killed and buried them are quite horrifying enough. In this book, many artefacts become public for the first time, including photographs from Ian Brady's Tartan album', police interviews and witness statements, which shed vital new light on Brady, Hindley and the dangerous cocktail their union became. The fact that he found a girlfriend to go along with his murder schemes was just as disgusting and unbelievable. In all five murders can be tracked to the couple although police feel that there were more than that.Complete with never-before-seen photos taken by Ian Brady, Cook’s story takes us through the childhood of Ian and Myra, their infamous relationship, and the emotional police investigation. Printed here for the very first time are photographs of Myra Hindley during her incarceration released to the author from Home Office files held at the National Archives. The couple’s vile torture and killings have shaken up British history ever since, with the couple often considered two of the most evil people to have lived. However, all the back issues of Lobster - Robin Ramsay's journal of parapolitics, which continues where this leaves off - are now available on one essential CD-rom. I truly did hold on, until the recounting of the sexual crimes committed by Ian Brady in his youth started.

Ian Brady and Myra Hindley were an ill-fated couple - a couple who brought havoc into the world when they got together. The second book published in this series carries on from where ‘The Moors Murderers’ left off and continues the horrific story of the crimes perpetrated by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley and tells of what happened at their trial in 1966. I have read many books about the crimes of Ian Brady and Myra Hindley, and I feel that this book is one of the most in-depth I have read. The images inside, although at times hard to look at, really helped to create an overall picture of the life of these two evil humans, and their crimes. Many years ago I went through a fairly brief interest in reading about high profile murders including these. The writing style was dry to the point of chapping, with only ominous attempts at segways that were more cheap than compelling.
