About this deal

IMO the studio direct mode is fine as-is, for recording I actually want less bass and more impact in the highs. Included in the collection are: 25 electric guitar amp models, 2 acoustic amp models, 3 bass amp models.

For absolute precision in editing individual patches, Nux furthermore provides the QuickTone Editor for Windows and macOS, which applies all changes in real-time and provides extensive tools for finding the perfect sound. The built-in drum machine is handy but it doesn't really function that well beyond being "a slightly more interesting sounding metronome". The only of my IR loaders able to handle nicely this situation of extremely strong preamp signal, IME, remains the AMT Pangaea: it allows to have the same sound from the amp and from the related IR. The amp only gets slightly warm (just above ambient) playing bass at a decent home volume, into 8 ohm PA speakers. The sounds are exactly the same as the HX Stomp but it's just that little bit simpler to use, and if you aren't going to be doing all the split signal chain stuff etc it'll do everything you want.It has stereo outputs that you can use directly out to the mixing desk and get a full fat guitar sound with a product that can fit in your backpack. Classic phenomena, which has nothing to do with digital/analog, and everything with the context you apply a sound, and what reference you use to dial in. I know this whole review sounds like a NUX ad, but I can honestly say this thing exceeded my expectations.

You can choose from 25 different amps which is less than most other units but the quality is spot on. But that's exactly why I like it, the tone is recording-ready, no "annoying" frequencies like with some other devices but pretty well balanced and pleasant to the ear. so if you then use bassy headphones to dial in the tones and then the PA is a bit more neutral it can be very different. It can be challenging to duplicate the specific sound of a jazz player you like even using similar gear. you can sit in a living room with a vintage amp, dial in your ideal tone, then take it to a rehearsal or gig and the amp will sound entirely different in a mix.
