I feel like in every review here or on Goodreads lately I’ve been mentioning the uptick in Hollywood/famous people romance (I also recently just finished reading Elissa Sussman’s Once More with Feeling and Ava Wilder’s Will They or Won’t They). I’ve read one night stand to lovers and I’ve read some ‘teach me’ romances, but I’ve never read a story where the guy is so bad in bed that the fmc ends up giving him sex lessons.

I loved that this relationship did not follow the “usual” path, and that it was the hero who was in need of some lessons in the bedroom. I liked the concept of "lessons", and after reading Blind Side (not to be confused with The Blind Side, starring Sandra Bullock), I was curious to see what this would look like with the roles reversed. When I was struggling to sell freelance articles about new local musicians and the evolution of Seattle’s downtown, she was juggling high-­profile clients and contributing a respectable monthly amount to her 401(k).Chandler's determined to keep their partnership as professional as possible, but when she admits to Finn their night together wasn't as mind-blowing as he thought it was, he's distraught. We learn how OCD is something Finn not only had to hide during his career, but also endure bad remarks and taunts from the people around him. I'm not exaggerating when I say that Rachel Lynn Solomon never misses with her adult romances IMO, and I'm also not exaggerating when I say that I think that this is my new favorite by her. We learn about his history with OCD, how it affects his eating habits, and how difficult it was for him to have it growing up. I like this new approach, and I think it’s humbling, even, to show a different side between the genders, and how possible it is for a man to be unaware, inexperienced, and simply lacking while the woman is more confident, experienced, and knowledgeable.

There is a fine line between “this sex scene makes me want to kill myself” and “this is actually a nice and intimate moment between characters that I love” and I think that line for me is way thinner than for most people – and also popular romance seems to cross it a lot. She thinks she’s going to be fired, but instead Finn asks Chandler to coach him into being a better lover through a series of steamy “intimacy lessons. There were moments where the situation managed to make me laugh and then it would take a turn and become incredibly sexy.There she meets an attractive man she instantly connects with--but their chemistry in the bedroom proves to be severely lacking. Ghostwriting isn’t a glamorous job, and even if nothing about this finished product screams Chandler Cohen, I’ve been strangely giddy over the idea of finally meeting Maddy—­because some part of me is still a little starstruck. I also adore that the author included that guys (even better that hes an actor) don't all have abs and perfectly smooth skin apart from the places that are 'sexy' to have hair.

Every fourth comment swooned over how relatable she was—­and this is someone who sells wall hangings that say live laugh girlboss. Again I have nothing bad to say about this book, I think everyone who loves romance should read it ( it checked all of my boxes; funny, sweet, swoony and steamy), it is definitely one of my favorites of this year, and I can not wait to see what is next from this author. Chandler knows she deserves better at work and in her romantic life, and it’s a joy to root for her as she makes changes for her own happiness and independence.And then we can watch people on Netflix making bad real estate decisions with partners they absolutely should not be with. It’s the persistent tapping at the back of my mind that sounds suspiciously like a clock, wondering if I picked the wrong career path and if it’s too late to start over.
