About this deal

She lands into a group of walkers where she's almost overwhelmed, with her prosthetic being bitten in the process, until she's saved by Ricca. There is some teenage drama in the book but I feel it’s presented in a realistic manner that doesn’t go too over the top. This was fun, and hearty enough to not feel like a rushed project, though occasionally the pacing is pretty jumpy and it could have used a bit more tension.

Unfortunately though, we never do explore that community enough to get a sense as to how an Amish community functioned within an apocalypse. Clementine and The Family Meeting (2011): Clementine's mother reveals herself to be pregnant, much to her daughter's dismay. Clementine dismisses her for her safety, then they all form a line and successfully take out all the walkers. If you still need to go this route of her leaving AJ, you could’ve had it be that she feels guilty for not being happy after all she has done to keep herself and AJ safe. Clementine gets down and tries to warn him about the oncoming zombies, however Amos quickly dispatches them. What's keeping me is the character and Tillie's writing, I still struggle with the art style but will not be lowering my rating because of it again. Then, it becomes clear that this zombie world makes sense for Walden: Teens on a road to recovery (from trauma) and self-discovery.

John is excited about the plan and Fen asks Clementine if she's okay, Clementine says she just wants to fix something. I picked this up because I love Clementine as a character and for me she was potrayed well, but a few things here fell a little flat for me. Olivia tells Clementine that she is bad luck, believing that she's holding Clementine and Ricca back.John complains about how they worked on the sea wall for months, Clementine tells him "walls don't last forever". Clementine looks over the land and asks Olivia to fly over Vermont to show Amos the plane one last time. As they go to bed, Ricca asks Clementine where she's from, after some reluctance, she tells Ricca that she's from outside of Atlanta. Amos greets Clementine and asks her where she is heading, she responds "north", which is where Amos is going as well.

After a close encounter with a group of zombies, she slips in a gap, breaking her prosthetic leg in the process. This is why memoirs are usually suited for people who have lived a life or had some extraordinary experience, neither of which applies to Spinning. The story falls flat as well, and every other review on here sums up why better than I could, but the summary should be a big hint. She often shows little tolerance for Clementine's eccentricities and enjoys domineering other people, particularly those younger than she (who she perceives as being of lesser authority than she is), and shows a few uptight and snobbish personality traits (she enjoys showing off). At night, Clementine is sitting by herself, when she is joined by Ricca, who is smoking a cigarette. In spite of her good but misunderstood intentions, she frequently finds herself being sent to the principal's office for her lack of cooperation and characteristic imperfections. I was very excited to jump back into Clementine’s story and was not disappointed with what Tillie Walden has to offer.

One of which being at the beginning with the Amish community (literally first-chapter stuff, so not too spoilery). And when she escapes from the lab which has bred her, Clementine discovers that it’s not enough to be the smartest mouse in history if she wants to survive in the real world – especially while the scientists who kept her are trying to recover their prize specimen. The two then kill a small herd of zombies in the rain and continue to travel, until Clementine decides leave. Olivia reveals to Clementine that she got bit, Clementine says they have to cut the bite out immediately, but Olivia tells her the bite is inside, saying she felt something moving inside of her.Clementine is back on the road, looking to put her traumatic past behind her and forge new path all her own. A coming-of-age tale of survival written and illustrated by two-time Eisner award-winner Tillie Walden (Spinning, On a Sunbeam). There’s probably things that others didn’t view as sad or probably wasn’t meant to be, but I found sadness and despair all through this book. Even if she was struggling with PTSD, loss, and emotional pain… she fought so hard for that young boy.
