CPX is a new generation film forming elastomer that offers the characteristics of excellent spreadability, quick drying, improved durability and wash off resistance that further enhance flattening and softening of scars. Therefore, gel forms have replaced the sheet forms, especially in exposed areas such as the face, neck, and arms. It is a polymer (created from repeating subunits) molecule and has different molecular weight and thus different viscosity versions from water-light to thick liquid. In many studies, silicone has proven effective in ameliorating keloids and hypertrophic scars and in preventing scar formation. Both groups of patients were advised to avoid exposure of the wound to extremely cold or hot environments or to strong sunshine, to prevent irritation to the wound, and to avoid tight clothing.
