I've resolved to read every Junji Ito manga, but I've realised that I've already read his best works, leaving only the more recent ones till anything fresh comes out.The melting parts are very detailed and he doesn’t shy away from using smart shading and busy line-work to really make the gross parts pop.

In a different sense, the fates of the girls Yuuma compliments, as they become much uglier and also begin losing their humanoid form once it goes on long enough. The artwork for this manga is terrifying and nauseating and then paired with the story, it makes for one hell of a nightmare. It turns out, for his sister, Chizumi who apparently is a demon possessed by a snake, devoted to devil worship.

Junji Ito is known as the prevailing modern master of horror manga, his work includes Usumaki, Gyo , an award-winning adaptation of Frankenstein and the collections Fragments of Horror and Lovesickness. Dissolving Classroom is very much aimed at fans who have read his other stuff and want more, but if it’s your first time picking up a Junji Ito work, I suggest starting with something that got made into a movie.

At the end of the manga are two unrelated shorts about a dead woman in a meteorite, and a really creepy story about children disappearing in the woods. Keiko again intervenes to stop Azawa being bullied but then sees that their classmates' brains are leaking out through their eyes and noses. Hamaoka/The devil: Hamaoka first appears as the news reporter investigating Yuuma and Chizumi working together with Keiko. Nao is easily reassured by Yuuma and continues believing she is more beautiful than anyone else even after Yuuma disappears only a couple days later. There's usually a tinge of comedy to the school-based horror, too, a comic revenge theme, and this is true of this one.

It's almost as if you might imagine any bored kid in the back row, fantasizing the destruction of the school. Detailing the depths at which a teen will go to get revenge on the world, Dissolving Classroom is J-Horror at its most beatifully grotesque. Mask of Sanity: Yuuma is much more normal-looking, polite and seemingly kind than his sister is, but he may in fact be much, much worse than her. She promises to come back to Mitsuo and does appear in a meteorite that lands on Earth; however, she is charred as the meteorite goes through the Earth's atmosphere. A subreddit I frequent, as much as any, recently came to the defense of a particular streamer with such arguments as, "It's not like he knew she was underage when he did it.Despite this, he goes out of his way to take her with him whenever he's forced to go on the run, and seems to hold himself responsible for her deranged personality to a certain degree.
