You don’t want to have just purchased Bluetooth Sony headphones and as soon as you start playing your music you notice that the sound quality is absolutely terrible right? They can retrieve a decent amount of detail, but the FR is too far gone to make it a solid headphone. Sony mentioned this in the product literature cuz a lot of users complained about this detail in the 1A. Taking the rise from 2kHz into account, the lower-mids are relatively recessed hence one can expect that higher pitched vocals will have more of an edge over deeper ones.
Putting the headphones through balanced cables and playing through premium DAP like Sony NW-ZX300 will further achieve a more spatial and detailed highs to bring out high-definition sound.
Some of the sounds that aren’t showcased will tend to have more bleed, but it’s not destructive to the overall sense of accuracy being conveyed. If you’re just monitoring though, and not making any moves that will considerably change the sound of your mix, then the 1AM2 should get the job done. The high range on a lower volume the headphone has a warm sound signature but when I turn up the volume some of that treble range can break through but instead of being able to sleep with them on they act more excited like most other headphones but much more explosive bass with these. Portablity, yes they could be used outside but they are not sweatproof or anything of that sort, I found that the bass ports are sensitive to wind so you will hear the wind when wearing these.While their lightweight frame make them exceptionally comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, they also make them a bit on the fragile side. I generally find Sony's house sound more like an "n" shape in that it is rather warm with a rolled off , and this still held true for their 1000X lineup up until the XM4. Firstly, we love that the headphones are compatible with HI-Res Audio as well as iPhones and other smartphones with the cord. Finally, sound pressure is a fairly standard 98 decibels – more than capable of adequate volume in normal listening situations. Additionally, the MDR-1AM2 manages to keep sibilance well under-control despite the treble emphasis.
The drivers look like borrowed tech from Sony’s much more expensive offerings made smaller and lighter. Love these cans so much and would like to have some fun times from time to time (most of the time I listen my music with R70x which is good cans too but very flat and MDR-1AM2's isn't that huge leap but just the spice I some times miss but the pads are so flaked down that cannot use them anymore).
