About this deal

A superb 10 year old Irish single malt whiskey and winner of Best Irish Single Malt Whiskey at the 2007 World Whiskies Awards.

Please do not attempt to enter this web site if you are not above the legal age of drinking alcohol in your country of residence. Bushmills ten-year-old single malt is an approachable and elegant and Irish whiskey with an exceptionally smooth finish. A favourite whiskey of many years; and even if unintentional, Bushmills 10 Years Old is probably as near a benchmark as I'll admit to having. The late 18th century was when bushmills started to be recognised as a great whisky winning numbers awards. Now it is time for the distillation, the wash is boiled to distil the alcohol from the water and it is tripled distilled then matured in oak barrels.Close to the Giant's Causeway the water supply for the Bushmills distillery runs through the basalt rock and then through peat. Next step is blending the whiskies, so several different malt whiskies are selected then blended together to find the right flavour. Distilled three times from 100% malted barley and matured for a minimum of 10 years mainly in selected American oak casks - a gentle maturation which lends soft vanilla notes to the whiskey. As you’d imagine, it's a blend of their whiskies aged for at least ten years in bourbon and oloroso sherry casks.

Whether you’re savouring it neat or as part of a toothsome cocktail, you’re sure to appreciate a whiskey that’s well-balanced, delicate and as smooth as silk. Sweet, light and fruity, this dram is perfectly sippable when served neat; alternative, you can add in an ice cube or two for the perfect summertime whiskey!Based in County Antrim in Northern Ireland, Bushmills are proud of the fact that they only use malted barley, and triple distil their spirit. Bushmills are one of the most famous brands in Irish whiskey, if not spirits in general, and lay claim to being not only the oldest distillery in Ireland, but the oldest whiskey distillery in the world. S. In 2008 Bushmills celebrated their 400th birthday and the bank of Ireland put them on their bank notes.

It has a refined nose, with a light-bodied sweetness, tart apple notes and swathes of banana and smooth vanilla.

On the palate, mellow sweet notes of vanilla, milk chocolate and fresh honeysuckle married with delicate traces of toasted oak. The ever-popular Bushmills 10 Year Old is a marriage of single malts matured for at least 10 years in a combination of Bourbon barrels and sherry butts. Bushmills 10 year old single malt whiskey is triple distilled from 100% malted barley and matured for at least 10 years in sherry and bourbon seasoned barrels, which give it honey, vanilla and milk chocolate flavours and is best served neat or over ice. Bushmills are always scored highly in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible, with the 10 year old being awarded 92. The taste is melted chocolate that rests on the tongue before releasing a hint of honey in your cheeks. So too, with the palate, as the vanilla comes in on a smooth, clean malt arrival, the fruity apple blends with juicier mango and apricot and finishes with a little touch of sherry.
