About this deal

If you can get through the first part, and I hope you do, you will be rewarded with one of the best thrillers this year. Each bus stop brings fresh news, and the snatches of gossip float back across our heads, impossible for me to avoid.

It's the most personal book I've written, and I've loved hearing from readers who have connected with it. He had happily been skipping along anticipating milk; biscuit; twenty minutes of television, fish fingers for tea….

The one downside is that it is hard to say much of anything at all about the plot, so I will refer you back to the book synopsis/blurb to get the setup. I won't bother with a plot summary because I would need to either reveal spoilers or deliberately mislead you. The garden isn’t large, but winter is on its way, and by the time I reach the other side I can’t feel my toes. Ray and Kate have been investigating something which they found in Jenna's purse whilst she was in custody.

This also leads Jenna into the arms of a gentle local vet Patrick, who offers her friendship, as well as love. She runs away - goes off grid - throws her cell phone away -hides out- - 'less' that 3 months after her child is killed. I often wonder if Gillian Flynn is excited to see so many comparisons to her work, so many people trying to emulate that shock value or if she feels that most don’t live up to the epic twist that made Gone Girl so special, like I do. Jenna really grew on me over the course of the book and all in all, I did appreciate her character growth. As Ray and Kate drew near to the scene they were stopped by a young PC, his fluorescent jacket zipped so high Ray could barely make out a face between the peak of his hat and his collar.

Not only did I see the the 'mystery-ending' very early into this novel- [I found it very predictable], but there was so much 'yuckiness' about this novel. Her little boy dies - yet within three months she is "feeling alive" drawing her name in the sand, taking photos with her camera on the beach. Jenna’s husband’s voice does not make an entry in later in the novel but Mackintosh does this for strategic plot reasons. The highlight of the story for me was the gobsmacking twist (more like a tornado) that hit just before the halfway mark.Every month you'll receive access to behind-the-scenes content, industry insights, exclusive giveaways, discounts and much more. I enjoyed the novel written through the different characters POV and the different time frames keeps the interest piqued.

I want to press pause but the film is relentless: his body slamming against the windshield time after time after time. They visit the refuge centre and speak to someone who can shed a light on the situation between Jenna and Ian. Mackintosh uses Part One of the book to lay the foundation for a big reveal that the reader won’t see coming.

Farther up the road a second paper-suited figure was examining one of the huge trees that lined the road. One of the reviews on the book’s inside cover states that I LET YOU GO “[w]ill actually make you gasp out loud. And the significance of the words "OMG" written in the sand has to do with both my reaction and something in the book that I'm not going to tell you! Vivid storytelling with persuasive characters and a schemingly intelligent narrative - and one prize-winning plot-twist ― S. She spent twelve years on the police force in England and has written for the Guardian, Good Housekeeping , and other publications.
