The night vision of the ‘Orient that starts and ends in Venice’ imposed itself upon me and that is where I wanted to go. But, I know that after a month, the perfume will reveal all the genius hidden in it by the perfumer.

I picture a woman in a red ruffled gown, long legs crossed, drinking an Old Fashioned, flirting happily with her husband or staring off into the night. Citruses are felt all the time, they do not disappear instantly, as is usually the case with the top notes. I also tried Gabrielle a few weeks ago and although I wasn't blown away I thought it was a very nice fragrance. Love the scent, but I wish it had a higher longevity (on skin and clothes it holds for two hours after 7-8 sprays). Coco Noir has a contemporary expression, entrusted in black, for the woman of today – just the right balance between the femininity and feminism.

I sprayed a couple of spritzes on my coat near the hood, and every time I pass by the hanger, I sweetly freeze with delight. My friends, Coco Noir is Chanel's Greatest Hits album, with the hits of the past 30 years all remixed into an insipid midi-player synthesizer melody. Years ago I was lucky enough to be handed down a bottle from a great aunt, but I was too young to really appreciate this and unfortunately blew through it in a few short months. Having sampled and adored Coco, I wondered about Coco noir and I have to say that I prefer the former.

This oriental eau de toilette, with its warm and voluptuous notes, is the perfect choice for evening wear. I would consider it an elegant but not particularly distinctive perfume--more distinctive than Coco Mademoiselle, perhaps, but only because Coco Mad is so ubiquitous and has spawned so many relatively convincing dupes).
