Following the recent death of Robbie Coltrane, it made me think that (as "Cracker") he would have fired up the narrative for me. Presteigne was the capital town of Radnorshire for centuries before the first recorded execution in 1739. He claims to have found religion, and a skeptical Devlin tends to believe him which puts him at odds with his boss. This seems an ideal candidate – a modern police-procedural with an unknown killer or killers who is or are revealed in the closing chapters.
