About this deal

I didn’t mention his treatment of the heroine much because frankly he acted with her the same he acted with everyone except that with her he also manoeuvred her about like she was a doll and her attached head was ornamental. Blyth, Anin’s mother, has given her husband four fine sons and King Talon hopes Anin will do the same for him. The red plague sweeps the summer palace at Caer-Lyoness and Lenora's fair face falls victim to its ravages. In a sea of fluttering pretty gowns she sat there all in black, like a crow sat among a crowd of doves. It’s part of a peace treaty, but the two never actually meet before signing the wedding papers, and they don’t meet for the first four years of their marriage.

However, when he shows up on his wedding day and discovers that the woman behind the veil is actually the youngest daughter Aimee, he is shocked and has no idea how to react or what to feel. Once the world’s most legendary sorcerer, Lorre fled the Middle Lands after his own curiosity -- and a misguided transformation spell -- turned him into a dragon and nearly killed a king. Women who were more reserved and meek were - pathetic with no backbone ( the way he saw the heroines sister) Women who took charge and knew to command a social situation or a household were too managing (like his wife). This could be said for other Alice Coldbreath books, but I hate when two main characters have a disagreement that leads to no resolution, and then they immediately start banging.I enjoyed it a great deal and added an extra star just because I think AC is one of the best writing (pseudo)historicals today--and I loved the quick cameos of characters from other books (including one yet to come! The Favourite is a stand-alone novel of over 143,000 words and is set in a medieval style landscape in the fictional kingdom of Karadok. It really means a lot to know that you value the site and the community enough to suggest paid tiers or membership access.

Her absentee husband of eight years has served her with divorce papers and she looks likely to lose her beloved home and be forced into a convent. He was stripped of all his wealth after the south won the war and he is left with a burned down castle and now must compete in the knight tourneys. Men who were proud to show off their 2 month old daughter were “ crazy” because it’s not like it’s a son. Summary of the Storyline: When Aimee, the daughter of a very wealthy merchant, first watches Lord Kentigern compete in a tournament, she falls for him instantly and decides to try to secure a marriage with him.I didn't like how their first fight unfolded, it didn't feel consistent with either of their characters, and was maybe a bit suddenly over the top. The side stories and mentions of other characters sort of made it feel like Aimee and Konrad were secondary characters in their own story.

Examples: Ursula (Aimee’s sister) and Renlow, Gerold (Aimee’s father) and Freda (Konrad’s cousin), Leonard and Sybil, Lord and Lady de Bussell and Lord and Lady de Crecy. All her books are hits in my books and even when I don’t like them they are better written than a majority of other things. The series is supposedly based in the Medieval period with the marriage of convenience as the main theme.
