As other commenters mentioned, the title does clash with a few stories, as some of them deal with Chaos Space Marines, who are hardly heroic! All we ask is the product still be in its original packaging and you have your proof of purchase and we'll be happy to help.

Fires of War' by Nick Kyme is easily the longest of the stories included in this book and although I feel that the story is somewhat overlong, it is nonetheless quite good. You can arm the Captain with a master-crafted bolter, plasma pistol, or neo-volkite pistol in one hand, and a power fist or power sword in the other. I believe the 8 I mentioned are good enough for even non-40k fans to read; pulpy, war-torn sci-fi reading! Story three `Renegades' by Gav Thorpe is an okay story about a company of Avenging Sons Space Marines as they fight a loosing battle for the world of Helmabad.Peter Fehervari's Nightfall, like Ford before him, wrote a fun and exciting piece of horror, but it leaves you with too many questions that begin "why. But this is a really good intro to many of the series the Black Library has going, so it's worth reading just for that - assuming you have any interest in the 40K universe, and if you don't why are you reading this anyway? The Astartes are supposed to be the greatest embodiment of the Emperor's will, sworn to defend humanity at its darkest times.

The characters are good, especially Chaplin Argo who is a nice departure from the usual fire and brimstone Chaplains that you usually get. The story is very well written and is both entertaining and funny in places with some nice action scenes and a good plot. It's funny reading work by someone I know: I could imagine him penning this between Berlitz lessons or after his usual Herculean training sessions, Tokyo's summer heat bursting from his shaven pate in thick runnels of sweat.

I was going on vacations for 7 days so I brought this so I could read one or two stories per day while reading all other novels at the same time. Each of the stories follows marines of either the Imperium or Chaos as they fight their foes and complete their missions.

In my opinion only 3 of the short stories are really worthy of the subject matter, and 2 of them are almost exactly the same. he most heroic battle-brothers in a Space Marine company often form an elite retinue, sworn to fight alongside their Captain. Finally One Hate is a rare example of an Aaron Dembski Bowden story that doesn't hit the mark, the crime in this case being that it's not very interesting.
