About this deal

It doesn’t have to be the most extravagant love story, often times it is the most human ones that really stick with you. Just for the Summer" gains points for me for being more than a Hallmark romance — trigger warnings for those who may be dealing with childhood PTSD — but I came away feeling this darker side pushed the book away from traditional Jiminez writing and more into the territory of Colleen Hoover. Just One Summer is a 2012 Filipino romance- drama film directed by Mac Alejandre, starring Julie Anne San Jose and Elmo Magalona. Every time Justin dates someone they quickly break it off and immediately go on to find the love of their life.

For example, Justin and Emma initially meet via a reddit thread Justin posted asking “am I the asshole? It felt very unrealistic, which is so uncommon for Abby because I can always relate to her stories and characters but it wasn't possible with these ones. A sharp and scintillating summer novel that will make listeners laugh out loud and cry happy tears from the New York Times bestselling author of Yours Truly. Also, if you really think about it, it makes no sense Emma would give up Hawaii for Minnesota (this felt like a crime) to break the relationship curse when her entire "thing" is she's constantly on the move and refuses to settle down. While this wasn't my favorite Jiminez book, I found it to be a compulsive page-turner and immediately connected to the characters.

I honestly didn't give AF about the romance, I was on edge the entire time waiting to see how the dynamic between Emma and her ain't shit womb donor (mom) shook out. So when Amber is “getting better” and Emma wants to give her another chance, Maddy sees right through the BS—and is right, of course—but that strained the relationship for a quick minute there.

Justin and Emma meet online after she and her best friend, Maddie, stumble upon Justin's recent "Am I the asshole? But when Emma's toxic mother shows up and Justin has to assume guardianship of his three siblings, they're suddenly navigating a lot more than they expected—including catching real feelings for each other. Justin starts off the book with a reddit post, sharing about his "curse," through which all of his exes find the love of their lives immediately after breaking up with him. This is my first Abby Jiminez that I completed (dnfed Yours Truly—no I won't be taking questions at this time) and I did find it funny. If she hadn't extracted her head from delulu-land, I would've given this one star so brace yourself while reading this.Fans of Abby will devour this one and readers who may be new to her writing will no doubt want to go back and connect all the dots from her previous work. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They'll date each other and break up. When Kate offers to spruce up Vale Volumes ready for the visit of a famous author, they find they have a lot more in common than colour schemes. Let Fay Keenan transport you to the perfect British summertime, with beautiful countryside, an unforgettable romance, and just the right dose of escapism.
