Lord Loss makes no apperance, he is only mentioned, this is the only one where he does not show up at all, though he does send Juni Swan.

Bill-E tells Grubbs of his belief that Dervish may actually be his father, given how close they were before then, but tells Grubbs to keep it a secret from him, which he agrees. The book is very well written and I was soaked into it from the very first second I started reading it. I went into this book without really knowing what it was about and enjoyed the suspense so I will tell no more about it.The main character encounters a tragic, violent loss as he finds his family destroyed and faces the villains who did it (brutal stuff).

This is because, unlike all other known demons who are not confirmed to be part human, he is not entirely evil. Lord Loss also seems to have a sense of arrogance, particularly when it comes to his skill at chess, but at the same time he has shown signs of cowardice. If his behavior is only a trick to make the reader be surprised that they will learn to like Grubs, it's kind of a cheap one. Despite this it turns out that he is actually one of the weaker Demon Masters, though he later becomes the strongest after Grubbs, Bec and Kernel remake the universe. Grubbs narrowly escapes death, but suffers from PTSD and is hospitalised due to his poor mental state.While Shan’s over-use of gore and violence can be immature and tactless he is also occasionally capable of writing moments of true poignancy.
