About this deal

It’s made up of the instructions for drafting a range of blocks but doesn’t show us any examples of ways to adapt the blocks immediately. Si vous lisez l'anglais, et plus particulièrement l'anglais technique de la couture, si vous désirez construire vos patrons, ne cherchez pas ailleurs, ce livre est LE livre.

There are straightforward instructions for creating a basic bodice, skirt, dress, trouser and sleeve block. They snip a 'U' shape in the paper meaning it doesn't rip as easily as notching by hand creating 'V' shapes. BS31) This item is being sold under the Retail Gift Aid scheme which enables us to increase the value of the donations by 25%. Franchement, si vous connaissez comment un patron est construit, si vous avez quelques bases, ce livre est parfait. My other criticism here is that the bodice block is drafted without any waist shaping, this is added as an option at the end of the section and isn’t done in the clearest of ways.We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. It isn't so suitable if you don't have any experience as it *is* a technical book and it does look daunting on first opening because of all the detail inside. The thing that I would note about this book is that it has a fair amount of material geared towards uni students and those wanting to get into the industry. As before we start with some blocks (mostly T-shirts) and move into adaptations like tracksuits, dresses and hoods.

The size charts have been revised to reflect the changes in body sizing, the co–ordination with European size charts and to the way that clothes are now marketed to different sectors. g.: design, aliquot parts, basic body blocks, drawing blocks for individual figures, from block to pattern, the skirt, trousers, basic adaptions of the bodice blocks, the sleeve, collarsdresses, coas, jackets, etc. This book offers a range of good basic blocks, an introduction to the basic principles of pattern cutting and examples of their application into garments. Usually, a toile is made from calico or scrap fabric with a similar drape to it (always use a stretch fabric for a stretch pattern, not calico).

I love the way that this book takes the basic shapes and shows how to adapt them to create such a huge variety of garment shapes and sizes. The size charts of body measurements have been revised, reflecting the changing shape of women′s bodies. You do need some experience of garment construction to use this book as there are no instructions on how to make up the garment, or else you need someone who is familiar with pattern drafting and construction as a "phone a friend".

The reason that Metric Pattern Cutting is so great is that it covers BOTH of these key skills and waaay more! Winifred was formerly Professor of Clothing Technology at Nottingham Trent University and a practicing fashion designer. You might find it helpful to use our free Introduction to Pattern Cutting eBook to give you a better understanding of all the pattern cutting symbols and terminology. Ich muss auch dazu sagen, dass ich echt viele viele Schnittbücher gekauft und wieder verkauft habe und es nur wenige gibt bei denen ich sagen kann "die sind sooooo gut die behalte ich" .This book contains instructions for creating patterns for just about every conceivable womenswear garment you'd want to make, with the exception of lingerie. However, the great expansion of casual wear, cut in jersey or stretch fabrics, has led to the growth of 'flat cutting' with no darting to create the shape and this edition devotes a whole section to this type of cutting. I'm all for creating and designing your own sewing patterns so that you can get more from your sewing projects and this is why I am trying to make pattern cutting as accessible as possible to everyone. Using this book I was able to cut myself a pattern for a pair of stretch denim shorts to fit my shape. Metric Pattern Cutting for Women's Wear provides a straightforward introduction to the principles of form pattern cutting for garments to fit the body shape, and flat pattern cutting for casual garments and jersey wear.

This first section is also where we are introduced to some tools and pattern making rules about smoothing lines, adding seam allowances and labelling pieces. There is also a lot of information on how to draft a variety of different designs for tops, dresses, sleeves, pants, skirts etc.It is a little technical - but if you start right at the beginning and take your time - it makes you really understand the craft of pattern drafting and using a basic block to tailor to individual sizes and allow for 'problem areas' - e. Loads of exciting things to make from lingerie to exercise and outdoor wear to smart tailored coats. However, the instructions are structured in a way that can be confusing if you’re new to pattern cutting. They're such a time and money saver in the long run, especially if you're about to make something in a very expensive fabric or you think you'll make the pattern again and again.
