About this deal

Here’s a sample video of the MIOFIVE in action, capturing video in the daytime, at night, and into direct sunlight. AI - parts of the AI you can turn off such as the feature telling you to move off if the car in front has moved off and also the fatigue warning.

The design of the front camera is identical to the single-camera version, and it's just lovely, hence why it has pride of place on the wife's windscreen. Again, it could capture relatively crisp individual frames on my late night spin around a city centre block, allowing me to make out several number plates – always the sternest test given their propensity to wash out completely under headlights. I've asked MIOFIVE to see if an "Unlimited" setting can be added to allow time-lapse parking mode to record for more than 24 hours. Leave this plugged in while you’re away from your car, and it’ll drain your battery flat in two days.In a world of dash cams that want you to connect via an app, then insert and format a SD card before getting any action, that’s refreshing. The long delay between the impact event and the start of recording makes this feature less useful in capturing what's taking place around the vehicle at the time of impact. The MIOFIVE 4K dash cam’s design is enough to elevate it from the crowd, and the user experience is truly set it and forget it.

With dash cams, you get to effectively capture video and audio of everything that goes ion in a car. The only way to view and download videos from this camera is to connect to it via Wi-Fi and use Miofive’s smartphone app.

With a dashcam such as the MIOFIVE you are not alone, and this one generally works well in low light too. Overall, the Miofive did well in this metric, providing sharp and accurate details that diminished when the sun went down. It did occasionally come in handy to make quick changes to the camera settings directly, rather than through the phone app.

Moreover, the U1000 is also equipped with an upgraded Night Vision, plus a free Thinkware Anti-Glare CPL Filter. This camera doesn’t have a removable memory card, and it’s semi-permanently installed in your vehicle – you can’t clip it out of its mount, so the only way to get it out of the car is to pull its electrostatic sticker off your windscreen. Usefully, there’s a spare adhesive pad included, just in case you make a pig’s ear of the installation, plus a handy square of cloth, presumably for wiping the lens and screen elements. Firmware setting "Time-lapse Scheduled Shut Down" defines how long the dash camera will operate in this parking mode for a period of up to 24 hours. That latter feature is convenient, and Miofive claims that as an embedded multimedia card (eMMC) it lasts 10 times as long as standard SD card NAND, but it will still eventually wear out. Recently, I was reviewing another company's dash camera and I ran into a problem with its front windshield mount(s) having excessive free play in them allowing the front camera (or rear view camera plugged into the front camera) to move while driving. pads are great at sticking to the windscreen although that is not the official method of installation (see cons). This is the 1st camera I have bought that is 4K and has WiFi to connect to your phone to download video and pictures. Dash cams can help drivers SAVE money in the long run by getting them out of hit-and-runs, vehicle accidents and more.

When the dash camera detects an impact in the power saving parking mode, it creates a 60 second video for both the front (A file) and rear (B file) in this directory. Overall, setup is super easy and the camera simply gets on with recording high-resolution video on loop. When in Parking Surveillance mode, the U1000 saves energy by going to standby and only recording events triggered by impacts. The timestamp that appears in the status line of the video will be converted to the local time based on the local time zone as determined by the dash camera based on its current location. If the camera detects an ‘emergency’ situation ( a bump for example) it will record the footage and save it under the emergency videos tab in the app. Since this uses an adhesive application, the MIOFIVE isn’t meant to be taken on and off the windshield, so you may want to look elsewhere if portability is of importance. Please include what you were doing when this page came up and the Cloudflare Ray ID found at the bottom of this page. Bear in mind that older footage will be overwritten once the 128Gb memory becomes full, so this built-in storage won’t last as long as you might hope - a few days of continuous filming will do it. I was pleased to have a firmware update for the MIOFIVE dash cam out of the box, and in reading through the Kickstarter it seems that the team at MIOFIVE is continuing to roll out feature updates.
