About this deal

This is once again a limitation of the technology and is mild on the Hisense, but we have to mention it for completeness.

The panel edges look and feel like aluminium with the panel rear and stand looking metallic, but actually being made from plastics. With the latest generation of consoles, you get 4K/120Hz, AMD FreeSync Premium VRR support, ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and eARC support on HDMI 3. It makes for a great living room TV for those not worried about absolute image accuracy and contrast but who want bright, detailed images with a good smart TV system and excellent gaming credentials for the latest consoles.

Picture quality tests include broadcast 1080i high-definition TV, Freeview, Freeview HD, viewing angle and the stability of motion in fast action scenes. It is positioned as a mass-market option with quantum dot colour technology and a 144Hz panel plus gaming features to appeal to a wide audience. Obviously being a FALD LED LCD TV there is no ultra-slim screen design, but at the same time you don't watch the TV from the side, so the extra girth shouldn't be an issue here. In a well-lit room, HDR content once again looks accurate with stunning colours and nice dynamic range on offer.

But overall, for normal living room duties, it has a decent enough speaker set up and of course, you can add a more powerful off-boardmulti-channel system at any time. Where this TV really shines is when used in a normal living room with some ambient lighting and watching everyday content or playing games.Picture processing on the Hisense U7K is provided by the latest Hi-View Engine with AI Processing that incorporates a quadcore MediaTek MT9618 SoC with the OS provided by VIDAA U7. Out of the box, the colors on the U7H are excellent, with whites that are more spot-on than the U8H but with a slightly lower color range. The best picture preset for this is Filmmaker Mode (FMM), which tries to follow the industry standards to view content as it was mastered and intended to be seen. Along with the updated 144Hz VRR panel, the U7 also offers 144Hz Game Mode Pro, which combines connectivity (HDMI2.

I’m an ISF-certified TV calibrator and a THX-certified home theater professional, and I’m here to help you understand 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and even 8K (and to reassure you that you don’t need to worry about 8K at all for at least a few more years). We didn’t notice any trailing of fast-moving objects and motion was also decent with only the odd frame skip visible when looking for it. Dolby IQ works well for those who will be using the U7K in a normal environment with good lighting as it adjusts the gamma and tone mapping to match the room conditions. Game Mode Pro] Slide into first place with 144Hz Game Mode PRO; all the game-ready features you’ll need for the optimal gaming experience.

Everything is tested by our dedicated team of in-house reviewers in our custom-built test rooms in London, Reading and Bath. Ultra-precise variable refresh rate (VRR), and auto low latency mode (ALLM) come together at an astounding 144Hz for a smooth gaming experience that’ll remain competitive for years. We were unable to completely remove the green hue shift that is visible in the graph, but this didn’t impact any actual TV or film content we viewed.
