About this deal

The demand for this pen among my friends has soared, with everyone wanting to experience the smooth and consistent performance of the Sharp ADVANCE Upgrade Model. However, I have a feeling that I tend to push down fairly hard since I know when using a wood cased pencil and the KUM long-point sharpener that, depending on the pencil used, I can end up breaking the tip of the pencil fairly regularly. Litus, sorry to hear about your bad experience, but I’m happy to know that I am not imagining things and that others have experienced the same issues. Ich habe gerade den Kuru Toga auf einem Formular mit Durchschlagpapier probiert (die neuere Art, nicht Kohlepapier). Here is a link to a review, but I think the description in the blog post I link to could be more accurate, it makes it sound like a Del-Guard pencil.

This mechanical pencil is a good option for those who prefer a lightweight writing instrument, as it’s the lightest of the three Kuru Toga pencils with sliding lead sleeves and “W Speed Engines. Sadly, I love everything else about these pencils; the look and tactile-material feel of the grip and barrel (I have multiple sensory-processing disabilities, and my two plastic-Pipe Kuro Togas I have no complaints with either solid-touch tactility in construction or the clutch-advancing mechanism) are one of the most comfortable mechanical pencils to use for me otherwise. Both modes have their advantages: “Kuru Toga” mode is better for math and print writing and “Hold” mode is better for quick notes and cursive. I noticed this pen doesn’t work well for me, so this should be seen as advice in the form of a friendly ‘Hey, this pen might not work for you, it didn’t work for me”. Well – I finally got a Kuru Toga and I’ve been using it exclusively for a few weeks now and got through a pack of leads. The way of holding a pencil reminds me how I saw my father-in-law holding a pencil it was (nearly) vertical – so axial = normal pen force (see http://bleistift.

The lead rotates approximately 18 degrees with each contact - twice as much as the original Kuru Toga, for quicker turning - around 20 touches will rotate the lead completely. For example, the Standard Kuru Toga has a plastic grip and is slimmer than the Alpha Gel Switch, which has a rubber grip. These Kuru Toga Mechanical Pencils are decorated with colorful illustrations of Studio Ghibli characters. As you use a regular mechanical pencil, the lead wears down on one side, forming a slanted wedge-shaped tip. Somehow I expected this pen to stand out from the other pens on the shelf, but this wasn’t the case at all. Say goodbye to broken leads or ink interruptions, as our Double Speed Core Toggler guarantees a smooth and clear writing experience.
