I give this 3 stars because I bought one in October 2019 (as the one that came installed with our bathroom about 5 years previously had broken - plunger mechanism was jamming so water was continually flushing into the bowl) but it has only lasted until August 2021 - with the same problem. When you push the button to flush, it operates a little leaver inside the small plastic box on the end of the cable attached to the systen lid. The cable-controlled flush valve can be easily fitted either to the top or the front of the cistern and is suitable for cisterns from 300 mm to 420 mm. It may be push in the left side as pictured or pull out the right side - when it comes off, all will become clear, it has a keyhole shape inside it. Remove the cable connection from the valve, you usually need to press a bar on the side of the mechanism.At this point all i did was squirt in plenty of WD40 and keep activating the little leaver with a pencil untill the cable is freed by the WD40. Now use a pencil or something and push the little leaver back down, this should flush the toilet and give you an idea how it works.
