Products like iron sulphate work really well at turning brown or dull grass into a lush, green carpet. This product has one of the highest nitrogen concentrations of any lawn fertiliser on sale, and for me, it’s too high. I must point out that this lawn food probably isn’t the best option for root development, it’s primary feature is top growth.

The nitrogen content is so high that when I used it as a monthly feed, I had to mow the lawn more frequently than I wanted to. The moss will blacken as it dies and can then be easily raked out, and lawn weeds will be killed within 3 to 5 weeks. Say goodbye to the unpredictable weather and hello to a cosy and efficient way to keep your clothes in top condition. Healthy lawns are better at smothering out weeds and moss, so don't forget to feed in autumn too with a specific autumn lawn food. A2: Your lawn will be greener in 1 week, the moss will blacken and need to be raked out after 2 weeks and full weed control will take 3 to 5 weeks.If this is the case then it will clearly be indicated in the product information for your awareness.

A3: For best results and even greening we advise using one of our lawn spreaders, application can be done by hand but this does require measuring out each square metre and ensuring 35g is applied evenly over the area. NPK stands for Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium and are the three major nutrients needed for optimal growth and to avoid deficiencies. Dog urine scorches grass because of its high nitrogen content, so applying a product such as Miracle-Gro, which also has high levels of nitrogen in it, won’t help. It can be applied where bulbs are growing in the lawn, provided it is applied after all the bulb foliage has died down naturally. Also, for general health and disease resistance, I’ve found that seaweed extract feed is brilliant as it contains many micronutrients that aren’t in general lawn fertilisers. More recently, I’ve been using a combination of seaweed feed and slow-release lawn fertilisers to get the best of both worlds; a healthy, lush, green lawn that I don’t need to mow every 10 minutes.

I just don’t think it’s the most practical or environmentally-friendly way to achieve a lovely lawn. Miracle-Gro EverGreen Premium Plus Weed Control Lawn Food is small granules that reach the smallest weed leaves. A5: If you over-apply the product at a rate several times that advised on pack, you may see areas of browning, this is where the excess Nitrogen has scorched the blades of grass.

I found that it mixed well with water and didn’t block the watering can, but the 500g plastic bags were horrible to work with, and I spilt the powder on the floor despite being careful.
