About this deal
Im sorry to head Jaguar dont want to entertain any repairs just outside the warranty window, especially given its a relatively inexpensive job. She's noticed no issues with how her car was driving, and from what I can tell this is more of a bad gas mileage/decreased performance type of thing. I recently had my car back from a service, one of the item on the problem list is 'solenoid broken on cam adjuster', but the car is still running, engine wise, beautifully without any problem.
I was cruising super slowly for 30 minutes while giving as little throttle as I could trying to catch the jerk between and on gears - it didn't happen, acceleration was always smooth. VVL allows your engine to choose between two exhaust cam profiles one designed for economy / fuel efficiency and one for performance. It looks like it is a big chunk of metal with o-ring on it, but when they said it's 'broken', could it be just the o-ring is broken?
The transmission was clunking and they replaced a switch and later the coupler, but it still clunks very hard at 40 miles per hour on a cold engine. I'd suggest re-checking after a longer drive to ensure the seal is 100%, Just feel around for any oil.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. While the faulty solenoid won’t likely cause engine oil to become contaminated, the reverse may be true. Is it possible the solenoid units are faulty rather than as i suspected clogged or is it possible the engine just needs a flush and oil change? You will see that PicoScope has displayed an example waveform and is preset to capture your waveform.second, although it still revs for a while, and it seems to be more economical but still more comfort oriented. Because if there would be an issue caused by the intake solenoid I would get another fault code, right? In your case, I'm assuming you're talking about either your VVL (variable valve lift) or VVT (varible valve timing) solenoid(s) . Theres Vx tech bulletin on this issue that recommends removing the small filters from the solenoids and no need to replace them.
Take a good look at your induction and vacuum hoses for leaks before you chase a CPS, the odds are 10:1 in favor of entropic degradation of rubber over a component failure. Not all Mercedes vehicles experience a problem with the camshaft adjuster solenoid failing prematurely; however, the most frequently documented occurrences take place in the Mercedes-Benz E350 from the years 2006-2012, but has also been documented in models like the C230. I can't really give a fair review because any vehicle that runs on this system is just a stupid design. If you'd like to document your work and post pictures, that would be a great addition for both the Mk1 and Mk2 3. You're best off double checking the date on the part though, If it's of the revised design, may not be much point replacing.
OEM, FIT, QUALITY, FINISH - Each camshaft position solenoid actuator is manufactured to the same specifications as the factory actuators. There is no law preventing you from using regular instead of premium gasoline, but the laws of physics will cause your engine to perform a bit more poorly. I immediately noticed the car started quicker/easier, ran smother than it ever has since I owned it, and idled smoothly.
Convenient to install:perfect replacement for the broken or old one, save time and energy,no extra operations. The video Jag sent me they are saying they have to replace intake and exhaust camshaft sprockets (are those the same as the solenoid? Swapping the intake solenoid (was also the same, one-holed pre-revisioned one) took away the over revving, the car started shifting faster, more often and earlier. The oil passage may have clogged when some crud knocked loose and caused the cams to be in the wrong spot. MattIs it usually the inlet one that has the most sludge on it and more likely to be the faulty one?I contacted Lexus and the local dealer requesting that if the car could not be used until the repair was completed, I needed a loaner until they could "find" the parts.
