With the promise of this mythical smackdown for the ages from the film’s creators ringing on our ears, the final showdown that has been four decades in the making ultimately proves to be the final nail in the film’s already very well shut coffin. While Laurie and Corey get the most character care and attention, Allyson is frustratingly pushed to the side. Gore effects also get plenty of attention with the ghastly kills getting their due complete with oozy crimson blood work. David Gordon Green and Danny McBride are just the latest in a long line of filmmakers to take a stab at the franchise with a seemingly fresh take that ultimately doesn't go anywhere.

John Carpenter coming back to score the films is probably the best thing to come from this middling trilogy. Halloween Kills” followed and the sequel marked a steep decline in quality, and unfortunately the finale, “Halloween Ends,” is more of the same. The Bold New Take on The Beloved Classic “The Color Purple” Debuts on 4K, Blu-ray and DVD March 12th! Subtitles are English SDH, Spanish, Mandarin, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian and Swedish. The horror landscape has undoubtedly evolved since 1978 and while there are still plenty of films produced with no greater purpose or idea other than to provide the audience with a good time, there’s also a new batch that can successfully weave greater throughlines of thematic resonance into their traditional storylines and produce works of greater interest. There must be something seriously wrong with me 'cause I enjoyed this Horror film and found it quite a change from the normal follow - ups. Try as she might to hide her pain, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is haunted by the death of her daughter as she puts on a brave face to embrace life.

The forty-year journey of horror icon Laurie Strode and the original bogeyman Michael Myers ended with a terrifying whimper instead of the bang fans everywhere wanted and demanded. David Gordon Green and Danny McBride’s final trip to Haddonfield brilliantly explores the trauma of a town coping with tragedy at the exact wrong time in a trilogy. Fans will no doubt pick this up, but casual franchise fans will be best served waiting for the inevitable streaming release. David Gordon Green directs this 13th and final instalment in the 'Halloween' franchise starring Jamie Lee Curtis and James Jude Courtney. But in terms of delivering what was very clearly promised, on what has been talked up by Green, Curtis et al for years now, the trilogy and this film in particular cannot help but disappoint, even with the weight of those heady expectations removed. As far as the film itself goes, on one hand I admire “Halloween Ends “for taking a chance and changing up the classic Michael Myers formula. And for a young man named Corey (Rohan Campbell), tainted by a horrible accident from years ago, his tragedy will come face to face with the embodiment of Evil - Michael Myers.

Ending Halloween (4K, 8:26) – A featurette going over the idea and inspirations for coming up with this story and what would be the way to put a cap on this version of the branching timeline for the Halloween films. And yet replacing Myers with a new kill buddy/substitute whilst neutering him almost completely was deemed an acceptable narrative for what was promised to be the epic finale to end all slasher films? The home release boasts over 30 minutes of behind the scenes interviews and deleted/extended scenes, in addition to a very informative commentary track. The third and final film in Green’s trilogy hits 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and Digital this month with a Collector’s Edition home release loaded with extras.

He is also the Moderator/MC of the Live Podcast Stage and on the Podcast Awards Committee for PopCon (popcon. which may have been the point but was mishandled IMHO) and some weak linkages back to the previous film (seems like suddenly Haddonfield remembered Myers when the night/film before not so much. After playing a strong and interesting character in the last two films, she just sorta sits there as a passive and irrational plot device instead of someone with an arc. However the run up to the release of Halloween Ends in late 2022 also saw a new promise made – the final showdown of two of horror cinema’s greatest icons: Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney). The Dolby Vision pass works overtime to keep those black levels and shadows looking as best they can.

Cover Notes: ONLY ONE OF THEM WILL SURVIVE - Experience the epic end of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode's (Jamie Lee Curtis) long vendetta as Halloween, Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends bring the celebrated horror franchise to a close. Twisted Deaths (4K, 5:02) – A detailed look at the radio station kills as well as the big one at the junkyard.Going back to that tunnel location, it’s quiet and creepy with dripping water, echo, and shuffling feet scraping on the concrete for another immersive location example. There is good depth and balance on display, superior on the companion and concurrently released UHD, but more than sufficient here. For the week that ended on December 31st, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Halloween Ends finally took the top spot on the Blu-ray-only chart from Paramount Home Media Distribution's Top Gun: Maverick, ending the sequel's eight weeks in a row on top of that . Updated daily and in real-time, we track all high-def disc news and release dates, and review the latest disc titles. The trilogy as a whole found itself a smashing success since 2018, raking in almost half a billion on merely 60 million for all three movies.
