About this deal

So Kel pretended he was choking, and Caulder made a huge spectacle and got behind him and started beating on his back, pretending to give him the Heimlich maneuver. Eddie, my favorite character in Slammed, is redrawn in Point of Retreat and faces a very difficult path. I want to stay the night with you, but I need you to promise me you won't put me in that position again for at least a hundred and sixty-two more hours.

I am no big fan of the silent treatment as a tool in conflict resolution, so her tactics weren't making me happy at all. It was just two weeks after we started officially dating, and Caulder was spending the night at Kel's house. Again, I say the word "downer" but the stolen moments (and kisses) with the forbidden Will keep her going, and kept me reading!

Point of Retreat is the second book and the continuation of Laken and Will’s story and I loved this one so much because it’s told from Will’s POV. Towards the beginning I didn’t know if I was gonna like it as much because I’m not a fan of the misunderstanding trope. Layken is left second-guessing the relationship whilst Will is jumping over hurdles to prove his love for her. I think, perhaps, because I have read so many of these novels that really worked, that the poor execution of Will's perspective bothered me more than it would have otherwise. Note: Please do not continue to read this review, should you plan on reading Slammed and want to remain unspoiled.

I don't say that they are absolutely flawless, but I think that it is those imperfections which make me love them more cuz it makes them human. However, a new home means new neighbours… and Layken's new neighbour is the very attractive Will Cooper. i also really appreciate that his POV gave me some much needed insight as to why he even likes layken, which is something i was questioning when i read ‘slammed. What I hate, however, is the fact that everything that happens between me and Lake, and Gavin and Eddie… we all seem to know about. ive always had the opinion that romances should always be standalones, but i really enjoyed this sequel.Julia trusts her 18-year old daughter to raise her brother, and yet doesn't trust her to make wise decisions about her own relationships as she grows into a responsible adult? I loved Hopeless and Slammed so I had no reason to suspect that this book would be taking the fast train to suck-ville. And until now I can't imagine how this book will replace all the romance books combine in the whole world ever. But Point of Retreat was still a phenomenal story with heart and emotion and with characters I have come to love. I live the way she talked and how she is just so frank with people and give them what they deserve and how at the same time she was vulnerable to the bullies. It’s more like she’s encouraging us to undermine a system flawed through overuse of words that are made out to be harmful, when in fact they’re just letters, mixed together like every other word. I really enjoyed getting into his mind and journeying with Will as he struggles to prove that their love goes beyond the common bond of tragedy that brought them together.Sky, a senior in high school, meets Dean Holder, a guy with a promiscuous reputation that rivals her own. How far he was willing to go to prove to Layken that their relationship was deeper than the hardships they’ve had to overcome at such a young age tossed my emotional compass all over the map. I was looking for something that would make this book different and unforgettable but :( Nevertheless, I'm still glad I've read and tried my luck with this book/series because I really don't want to miss a single book written by CoHo.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I love you Colleen Hoover and I butterflying swear to please have a third book cause I'm dying for more Will and Layken romance! I don't think I'm going to move on to the next book in the series because I don't want to be a party pooper anymore.I'm not saying he has to be a perfect parent, I know I'm not, but those types of things are no joking matter, regardless of the reason. I can understand waiting the year to have sex as per Lake's mom (which that alone was so silly, but I'll let that go) but it is like he freaked out whenever they got close to hooking up. Laken is in college and Will is in grad school and they still live across the street from one another. Despite my reservations about Slammed, I was intrigued about where Hoover would take these characters as they tackled their new independence, responsibilities and burgeoning relationship.
