About this deal

In the 41st Millennium there exist few examples of Dreadnought patterns beyond the Castraferrum pattern, with the more advanced Contemptor Pattern Dreadnoughts being an extremely rare sight. Other patterns, such as the Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought and Leviathan Pattern Siege Dreadnought are even rarer, with very few examples known to still exist, only to be unleashed from a Chapter's armoury during the times of greatest desperation. The unhallowed and dreaded Lucifer Pattern Dreadnought is one of the oldest patterns of Dreadnought known to current Imperial savants. There exists little information on the Lucifer Pattern, with only vague descriptions implying that the armour configuration of the Castraferrum Pattern Dreadnought is far more to the fore than on the Lucifer. If the Tactical Doctrine was active for your army during the previous battle round, you can change it so that the Assault Doctrine is now active. So with the heavy bolters the expected value against the target is 13.24 wounds, while with the multi-meltas the cumulative expected value is 18.46 or a 39% increase. Assuming you want to specialize your Brutalis towards killing big targets, the multi-meltas are worth the points.

Roboute Guilliman makes all Imperium units pretty deadly, and re-rolls to hit and to wound are nothing to shrug at on the Redemptor. Guilliman and a Redemptor fighting side by side are going to be brutal. With the exception of the small gap on the front armour, I had no problems building this kit at all and I think it a very proper move by the design department, to include all the parts you need to build both variants and keep them modular (with a bit additional work even magnetized), without forcing you to choose one of them. Malcades ( Ultramarines) - Malcades was a Redemptor Dreadnought in service to the Ultramarines Chapter who was the first Primaris Space Marine to fall in battle in the Realm of Ultramar during the Indomitus Crusade. After being placed within the shell of a Redemptor Dreadnought, he fought in the Plague Wars on the Ultramaran world of Espandor against the forces of Nurgle. The Brutalis Dreadnought is a close-combat counterpart to the existing Redemptor Dreadnought, though it’s not just a weapons swap – the Brutalis has additional armour plates on its hips, groin, and knees. This could mean extra Wounds or extra Toughness, though GW hasn’t provided any information about game stats yet. Any Legion Castraferrum Pattern Dreadnought may replace its Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon with built-in Storm Bolter with any of these options: A Mark IV Doomglaive Dreadnought of the Grey Knights Chapter armed with a Psycannon and a Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon. A second Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon with a built-in Storm Bolter (This is not a standard loadout as it removes the Dreadnought's ability to engage targets at range.)

But what if you prefer a fist over a talon? Well, the Brutalis fists hit with the force of a thunderbolt and come with built-in twin bolt rifles for added anti-infantry firepower. Redemptor Dreadnoughts are giant war engines that crush bone and splinter skulls as they bludgeon through the enemy ranks. Taller, broader and more cunningly wrought than the Dreadnoughts of traditional design, these goliaths of battle are powered by hyper-dense Plasma Reactors and sophisticated fibre bundles. The Castraferrum Pattern Dreadnought is the most common pattern of Dreadnought used by the Adeptus Astartes in the 41st Millennium. The following section details all known information on the Castraferrum Dreadnought.

Dreadnought

An arming ceremony carried out by the Adeptus Mechanicus' tech-priests for a still unoccupied Redemptor Dreadnought chassis of the Imperial Fists Chapter. During the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy eras, the Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought was a dedicated heavy support Dreadnought frame, though it shared many core components and systems with the more general assault-based Contemptor Pattern. Initially deployed in limited numbers to each of the Space Marine Legions due to difficulties in its manufacture, its durability and firepower saw demand for the Deredeo Pattern dramatically increase after the outbreak of the Horus Heresy. Primaris Apothecary ( Helix Adept • Apothecary Biologis) • Primaris Librarian • Vanguard Librarian • Primaris Chaplain ( Judiciar) • Primaris Techmarine The leader of this strike force is a captain resplendent in ornate Terminator armour. His scenic base features the severed head of a Screamer-Killer half-buried in the dirt – so at least we know he’s got the chops to deal with that live Screamer-Killer in the Tyranid force. The captain pictured on the box is none other than Severus Agemman, but don’t worry if you’re not a son of Macragge – the miniature itself is Chapter-agnostic, so you can have him represent a captain from any Chapter you like. While the upper torso is mostly complete, we begin with the legs. These are far more dynamic than the old Castraferrum pattern Dreadnoughts. You have a pelvis section with poseable hips / upper legs. Similar to the Adeptus Titanicus kits, they come with suggestions you can simply build with the tongue and grove design, but could cut those away for a more free and more dynamic pose, if you wanted to. When you select a PSYKER unit to manifest psychic powers, you select one psychic power that unit knows and attempt to manifest it. With the exception of Smite, you cannot attempt to manifest the same psychic power more than once in the same battle round, even with different PSYKER units. The same PSYKER unit cannot attempt to manifest Smite more than once during the same battle round. The chart above shows the effect of the strike profile against various targets. You have a greater than even chance of killing a 13W dreadnought on the charge even with the damage penalty, while the T8/2+ profile vehicles are a bit harder to kill. The Brutalis still averages one dead Leman Russ per turn, but the 17W of the Rogal Dorn will only be taken out around 25% of the time. The Void Armour bonuses on the Hekaton Land Fortress give it a significant boost in resiliency when compared to the more conventional Imperial vehicles. Although not shown on the chart, on average it takes around 2 turns to kill a T8 Knight profile since they have so many wounds but no invulnerable save. Unsurprisingly the marquee models like Mortarion and Be’lakor are a significant challenge for this unit.

The Assault Dreadnought replaces the standard Dreadnought's ranged weapon with another Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon. These Dreadnought variants are an uncommon sight within many Space Marine Chapters due to the fact that removing the Dreadnought's ranged weapon arm means it forfeits its ability to engage ranged targets. This, when combined with the Dreadnought's relatively low ground speed means the Dreadnought will be very vulnerable to enemy ranged fire. These types of Dreadnoughts are used by Space Marine Chapters that favour Drop Pod assaults, such as the Blood Ravens Chapter, dropping the Dreadnought directly into the enemy's position where they can do the most damage. The term Assault Dreadnought is not a common name, instead most Assault Dreadnoughts have no special designation.

Kurggar Fyrfist ( Space Wolves) - Fyrfist is a Redemptor Dreadnought of the Space Wolves and one of the finest warriors currently serving in that Chapter. The final parts are the shoulder pads and the carapace mounted weaponry. The later is set on a disk, so you can turn it and depending on how you assemble it you can lower or raise the barrels to your need. The Ballistus Dreadnought is a variant of the standard Redemptor Dreadnought that serves the Adeptus Astartes as a fearsome ranged weapons platform armed with a versatile Ballistus Missile Launcher capable of unleashing Frag and Krak Missiles and a devastating Twin-linked Lascannon, the perfect counter to heavily armoured enemy monsters and tanks. Any Mark IV or Mark V Castraferrum Dreadnought may replace its Multi-Melta with any of these options: The Siege Dreadnought is designed exclusively for assaults against fortified positions. Some Space Marine Chapters have equipped their armoured Dreadnought Battle-Brothers to siege fortresses and lead their assaults upon other fortified enemy emplacements. They are equipped with either an Inferno Cannon or a Flamestorm Cannon for clearing out enemy infantry from bunkers and an Assault Drill arm for grinding through Ferrocrete in only a matter of seconds. This arm also usually includes a built-in Heavy Flamer so that once a hole has been drilled, the Dreadnought can pour super-heated Promethium into a bunker or pill box complex. Siege Dreadnoughts are specialised units and are only deployed when a Chapter needs to break through a stubborn static defence line or during close quarters street-to-street fighting within a city or town. A Siege Dreadnought's standard weapons loadout includes an Inferno Cannon, an Assault Drill with built-in Heavy Flamer, Smoke Launchers, a Searchlight and reinforced Ceramite Armour. In some cases the Inferno Cannon can be replaced with a Multi-melta, and two Hunter-Killer Missile Launchers can be attached using external sponsons to the Dreadnought's carapace. Larger and more imposing than even a regular dreadnought, the Redemptor is piloted by a near dead Primaris Marine. A war machine of fearsome reputation, it carries an array of weaponry to bring death to the enemies of the Emperor. A Pre-Heresy Thousand Sons Legion Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought during an Imperial Compliance action.
