Last year, however, a friend of mine purchased the biggest, burliest, most bad-ass multi-tool I have ever seen and after seeing it in action for a few weeks, I decided to get one for myself. As the bronze is intentionally soft, it will wear and is intended to be easily replaced by the user with the MUT accessory kit of replaceable parts.
My experience with multi tools, be it from Victorinox, Leatherman or Gerber is that they just don’t stand up to the punishment of everyday use; they do everything poorly and are awkward to use.

The bits are the short PH1-2 + 3/16 Flat, plus the two long double-ended bits which have T15 + Hex 7/64, PH2 + 1/4 Flat. Featuring things like a bronze carbon scraper, a bolt override tool, a bore brush attachment, and many others, it is all designed to take the place of most, if not all, of your cleaning kit. My EOD has seen use on the ski patrol, rope access jobs, tinkering at home, on climbs, working on mountain bikes, and being dropped, smashed, run over and even used as an anchor for a rappel (not a manufacturer’s recommendation). The thread-lock used makes the turning motion very sticky, but the screw certainly won’t fall out on its own.

The Leatherman MUT is the first multi-tool that functions as both a tactical and practical tool for military, LE, or civilian shooters. The sight tool fits into the pouch much better if laid next to the pocket clip like this before inserting it.

Due to its out-the-front pliers deployment, the OHT looks quite large, but its build is not as heavy.
More improvements: it was a little bit difficult but I was able to 3d print the Bit part, I will try to upload the 3d models to thingiverse in case you want to use them. One bit features flat and Phillips head screwdrivers, and the other features a hex key and Torx bit. The strap and line cutter shredded an old backpack strap and some loose MOLLE webbing I had lying around. The Leatherman MUT is excessive in so many ways, and due to that, probably shouldn’t be your first multitool.Perfect for military or law enforcement use, this military multi-tool has 16 tools – all of which are strong and practical, just what you expect from Leatherman.
