About this deal

Her mother has always been detached and career-focused, and pushes Auden to be the same way with her academics.

Eli and Auden end up bumping into each other and that starts the staying out all night together, getting to know each other, and Auden starts taking quests, to fulfill everything she missed out in high school. It was fun because at first when Auden arrives in her father new town she doesn't know anyone, seeing how she interacted with the other girls around her funny because all of the girls were interested make up and girly stuff, while Auden is more interested preparing for college. She rejects the idea that she’s shallow and unserious because she likes dating, biking, and spending time with friends and Heidi. She doubts that any of the “townies” of Colby would be suitable summer friends – not that Auden is socially adept enough to make friends, anyway. Dessen’s characters tell us who they are through their truthful and relatable internal monologues—it’s as if we’re sitting by their side as we see how they change.Along for the Ride (2022) follows Auden West, a college-bound teenager who is spending the summer with her father and his new family in Colby, a cozy beach town. Along for the Ride is a 2022 American romantic drama film written and directed by Sofia Alvarez, based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Dessen. But now Auden’s realised that there must be more to life, and just like that, she changes everything. While I didn't think Along for the Ride had her usual spark, it's still miles better than a lot of YA fiction out there, and is a great addition to the Dessen library. Auden and 20-year-old Eli keep meeting, and she learns that Jake is his younger brother, which fills her with more regret.

But they'll stay hooked as Dessen once again explores themes of abusive parents, the power of friendship, and teens who run away from their problems.

The closing scene is of Auden rereading a postcard from Eli in Barcelona before she and Maggie, college roommates, head to lunch. Leah always wants to go to Tallyho, a nearby club, and the other girls reply, "No, no, no to Tallyho. Auden accepts her stepmother Heidi’s invitation to spend the summer with her, her father Robert, and her newborn half sister Thisbe.

Several days after their first kiss, Auden overhears Robert and Heidi arguing while she and Eli are delivering newspapers (again, for the quest). Auden's father starts dating before his divorce; his girlfriend then becomes pregnant before they marry. Given the disservice those covers do to Sarah Dessen’s books, I was thrilled when, at the beginning of the summer, Sarah and Penguin announced that all of her books would have new paperback covers. Sarah lives in the countryside in North Carolina with her husband, daughter, some lizards and two very spoilt dogs.Exchanging Valentines can be an awkward process, especially when you consider “Vinegar Valentines” and other snarky sentiments - whatever your tastes, enjoy the sweet and sour cards alike in this gallery!

In present time, Victoria, a college professor, hosts parties for her graduate students at their home, causing Auden to often slip out of the house and drive around at night before heading to Ray's Diner to spend the night time. Maggie finds out that Auden and Jake had sex behind the sand dunes at The Tip, but she decides it is for the best and the two become friends. Our current partner charities in the UK are READ International, the National Literacy Trust, Room to Read.Bereavement is a key theme - for loved ones, for what might have been - and Dessen illustrates how important it is to move on and let go of the past.
