About this deal

Another great bronze level sold secure foldable bike lock comes from the popular lock brand Kryptonite. I always much prefer the first option (screw it into the frame), as it’s really quick and easy to install, it provides a very stable connection and there are no annoying and untidy trailing plastic ties or Velcro. It’s really easy to use and is the only folding bike lock that’s currently rated Sold Secure Silver. It may even be that one of our brands featured has a product that isn’t listed above that is better suited to you. A thick washer sits around the outside of the Forever’s rivets, preventing a nut splitter from gaining direct access to the rivet core, as shown in the video above.

The mount uses either your bottle bosses or Velcro straps — I used the former and it was rattle-free. As I just mentioned, the Foldylock Forever is Seatylock’s most secure folding bike lock, but it doesn’t stop there. If, for whatever reason, you can’t use the frame mount, then the compact folded up package means it can be slipped into a bag very easily. There isn’t another lock on the market similar to the Skunklock, its appearance and huge health-warning label will be enough to deter most thieves. There is a rubber band that stretches over the top of lock to hook onto the case and keep everting in place. The Compact’s hardened steel plates are also covered in a robust plastic shell, which prevents scratches to your bike’s paintwork. Of course both of them will give you far more locking options than any u-lock, due to their flexibility.

So be careful to avoid any folding Abus locks other than the Bordo 6500, because they're just not strong enough to protect your bike. The Fodlylock Forever is a newcomer to the folding bike lock market, and it’s taken the market by storm. However, the Fahgettaboudit’s 18mm shackle is much stronger and made using higher-quality hardened steel. Again, they’ve taken the proven design of the Compact, but this time, they’ve made it more portable and lightweight. When securing your bike to chunkier immovable objects such as street lights, the shackle of a folding lock can flex around it, whereas most D locks won’t offer enough internal shackle width. However, I do worry about the key pushing any dirt that has accumulated on the outside of the cover inside the mechanism. So if you want a lock that's easy to carry around and that offers you loads of locking opportunities then a folding bike lock is an excellent choice. But if you feel hat you’re somewhere in-between the low and high risk group, then definitely take a look at the Trelock FS 500 Toro. For those who cycle with a partner, the Compact is capable of securing two bikes and their back wheels. I’ve tried to go into as much detail as possible with this review, but if you have any questions, drop me a comment below, and I’ll get back to you right away!
