In addition to the gin, the distillery hope to be releasing their own single malt whisky in the future. With hints of spice and a lasting sweetness, close your eyes and take yourself to the Isle of Barra. This is followed on the palate with a depth of coconut and brown sugar enhancement, with a clean and dry presence, leading to a complex warmth of cardamom to finish.

After its formation in 2017, Isle of Barra Distillers became the Isle of Barra's first legal distillery and Scotland's most westerly distillery. Isle of Barra Distillers' Island Dark Rum is the first rum from the Outer Hebrides and delivers the elicit connection of the land and sea. Infused in their Outer Hebridean Island with carrageen seaweed, coconut, cardamom and orange, among a host of other botanicals. The sea is part of our story and each bottle of Island Dark Rum carries the essence of the maritime nature, bringing Barra to the fore, home and away.Aromas of raisins, butterscotch and sweet spices fill the nose, and the palate offers notes of dark chocolate, orange peel, banana, raisins and caramel.

The first batch of gin was distilled in August 2017 and the distillery will be releasing some island whisky in the near future.
