Many think of depression as a less serious mental health issue than something like schizophrenia. Yet, of all conditions, it is most often linked to suicide. There is hope. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause of someone’s suicidal thoughts and behavior. In many cases, though, treatment consists of talk therapy and medication. Talk therapy Suicidal thoughts have many causes. Most often, suicidal thoughts are the result of feeling like you can't cope when you're faced with what seems to be an overwhelming life situation. If you don't have hope for the future, you may mistakenly think suicide is a solution.
