About this deal

I loved this clever, beautifully illustrated story giving an insight into the correspondence of some well-known fairytale characters.

The author creates a unique story through joining classic fairytales and their characters such as little red riding hood and the three little pigs into one storyline. If you've got kids then you'll not go wrong with getting this book, more than just a story, there are letter's, cards, leaflets, catalogues. Through activities such as, hot seating, children can then begin to test their knowledge of the characters and the stories connected to them, and then imagine how this story could be told differently.Use the Type of Letter Worksheet, categorize the letters delivered by The Jolly Postman, based upon the class's letter description chart.

We meet many different character such as the Three Bears, Cinderella (now happily married to her Prince Charming), Goldilocks and many more. Enjoy Goldilocks' "Sorry" letter to the Three Bears, a Postcard to the Giant from Jack and, most amusing of all, the writ issued to the Big Bad Wolf by lawyers acting on behalf of both Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs. The wit and detail in all the "extras" (including a Humpty Dumpty jigsaw so you can put him back together again yourself. With this wonderful selection of tools, you will be able to create wonderfully exciting lessons for your students to enjoy. Starting with a Christmas Card for Baby Bear that included a very funny joke from Goldilocks, whilst The Gingerbread Man received a book within a book - honestly this had everything.

According to CCSU, some runners up through 2002 were Commended (from 1959) or Highly Commended (from 1974). As you read each letter, you might pass the piece to students to look at more closely as you continue reading.

Wonderful story of the Jolly Postman bringing Christmas letters to beloved fairy-stories' characters, with charming and fairly unexpected presents tucked in the envelopes as well. Every activity is clearly linked to the national curriculum for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and for Key Stage 1 and 2, supporting learning across the curriculum.

Alot of my classmates were incredibly enthusiastic about this book and were very fond of the memories they have of it. The book ends up with the postman visiting Santa Claus and receiving a special Christmas card for himself. Born as Janet Hall in Yorkshire in 1944, she studied at Sunderland Technical College, where she met Ahlberg. Join the Jolly Postman as he delivers letters in fairy-tale land in this fun, interactive story book! There's hours of fun to be had with the board game for Red Riding Hood and of course Humpty Dumpty received a jigsaw puzzle! The concept of reading actual letters that can be removed from the envelopes in the book is pure genius.
