When you’re not using your spacer, storing it properly will keep it in good condition, helping you or your child to get the best from your asthma medicine. Many inhalers contain steroids, like prednisone, to treat inflammation. Others have a type of drug called a bronchodilator to open up your airways. Some have both – this is known as a combination inhaler. If you’re using a spacer with rubber valves, replace it if the valves become stiff or brittle.
