About this deal

In a time when wooly mammoths still existed, a Native American teenager (no, he’s not Cro Magnon) anxiously awaits the initiation ceremony that will usher him into manhood. does mean the film has been cropped from its original aspect ratio, as opposed to Disney's normal use of the term. SCTV fans will delight in two tag-along moose characters, Rutt and Tuke, voiced by the McKenzie brothers themselves, Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas. The idea may seem familiar, and it should, as the practice was employed by Pixar for three of their high-profile animated films, beginning with A Bug's Life. In a number of ways, it suceeds, though not to the extent of the masterpieces from last decade that it emulates like The Lion King and Tarzan. His feelings certainly don't change when it is when the three brothers are fighting a bear that Sitka is killed. Some may find the dim-witted banter and heavy sprinkling of "eh"s abrasive, but for me, I found it quite entertaining, for the most part. A fairly involved making-of documentary, deleted scenes, interactive games, and a music video for the Phil Collins song "Look Through My Eyes," are all fine, but the best part of the disc is the commentary delivered by Rutt and Tuke, the moose in the film voiced by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas. Kenai has to go through the moose to get at Koda, who he realizes is necessary to get him to where he's going. Of course, the entertainment value of the commentary, like Strange Brew, is totally subject to taste. The colours and movement of the film are dazzling and dreamlike, while the upbeat musical score includes songs by Phil Collins and Tina Turner. The film's origins go back to 1994 when Disney CEO Michael Eisner, wowed by The Lion King, asked if any other films about animals were on the drawing board. I've never been a Phil Collins fan, but 'On My Way' was a good tune and the story was very strong and very well animated.

The visual art is in the style of the Canadian 'Group of seven', the story is entertaining, and there are strong female characters. The first disc contains what Disney describes as a “family friendly aspect ratio”, that means full frame 4:3 to you and me. BROTHER BEAR is an unforgettable tale that explores the true meaning of brotherhood and what it means to walk in the footsteps of another. Now, brother hunts brother and Kenai's only hope for survival is to befriend his own worst enemy, a grizzly cub named Koda. The more “family-friendly” features naturally appear on the less desirable first disc, which begins with an un-listenable commentary track by the “hilarious moose from the film,” Rutt and Tuke. As for the actual image: considering the amount of features available on this disc, don’t be surprised by the considerable amount of edge enhancement on display.

Amidst breathtaking, beautifully animated scenery, they encounter a forest full of wildlife, including hilarious moose brothers Rutt and Tuke, wooly mammoths, rambunctious rams and more. She didn't last twenty minutes in Nemo (and has, at 25 months, yet to sit through the whole DVD) but she LOVED Brother Bear. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature, but lost to the fellow Disney/Pixar film Finding Nemo. In their travels, Kenai and Koda meet a couple of hilarious moose (Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas) who provide comic relief to this otherwise heart-rending family tale.It is encouraging to find DTS reappearing on R1 US discs after a long absence, it appears Benny Vista is now taking into account the success their R2 counterparts have had in the UK. Yet there are other films that are beautiful, with lovely unusual stories, and you have never heard of them. Recently bought about 12 disney movies for my little girl and i think this definately looked the best. Since 2001, we've brought you uncompromising, candid takes on the world of film, music, television, video games, theater, and more. Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis provide a few welcome moments of humor as a pair of Canadian moose who sound more than a little like their Strange Brew characters Bob and Doug McKenzie.
