About this deal

I stumbled on this 3D seat cushion from Speak Moments while searching for relief for my Ischial pain. As a strong believer in innovation, I opted to see what this cushion would offer me. The Milliard foam cushion works great for easing your weaver’s bottom condition, but some have claimed to suffer allergic reactions when using the pillow. You might have to put that into consideration when looking at this cushion.

Brady, W. D., et al. (1998). The effect of static stretch and dynamic range of motion training on the flexibility of the hamstrings muscles. Journal of Orthopaedic & Sporrts Physical Therapy , 295-300. The vegan leather used not only enhanced the comfort of the cushion, but it also ensured I won’t have to worry about having to deal with a worn-out pillow. The cushion isn’t large enough. It only occupies a fraction of my chair’s base. Add that it keeps dancing around on the chair, and things get antsy. There are more than 150 bursae in your body. Bursitis can affect any of them. You’re most likely to develop bursitis in joints you use for repetitive motions or in places you put a lot of pressure, including your: Repetitive motions — like a pitcher throwing a baseball or lifting heavy boxes at work — commonly cause bursitis. Spending time in positions that put pressure on a specific part of your body (such as kneeling) can cause it, too. In each exercise, perform three sets of 10 reps each. This exercise should be performed three to four times a week. An orthopedic cushion is supposed to reduce the pressure on your bony parts, resulting in relief from pain. The fact remains that your bones are innervated, so any form of pressure on them will cause you pain.

The inflammation of the Ischial Bursa can be rectified through a combination of several actions/inactions. Below are some of these steps: Rest Ekiz T, Biçici V, Hatioglu C, Yalçın S, Cingöz K. Ischial Pain and Sitting Disability Due to Ischiogluteal Bursitis: Visual Vignette. Pain Physician. 2015 Jul-Aug;18(4):E657-8.A very useful way to reduce inflammation from bursitis is to have a carefully placed steroid injection. Used in combination with therapy, this is likely to have the best results for persistent bursitis. It will typically not be used as a first line approach, and is rarely performed by a general practitioner due to the position of the bursitis. If you have followed a course of appropriate exercises and modified your activities in an attempt to reduce the pain from the ischial bursitis, but have noticed little improvement then you may be offered a course of corticosteroid injections.

What should I do if I have ischiogluteal bursitis?

The average orthopedic cushion would often require the use of both hands to move it around. Many now have a handle attached, and this helps incredibly with mobility. Some call it a weaver’s bottom and others prefer the related description of sit bone pain or tailor’s seat. But the pain associated with the condition could leave you struggling to remember what phrase to use in describing it besides being PAINFUL. A thorough subjective and objective examination from a physiotherapist may be sufficient to diagnose ischiogluteal bursitis. Further investigations such as an Ultrasound, X-ray, CT or MRI scan are often required to assist with diagnosis and assess the severity of the condition.
