About this deal

I'm not saying its perfect, but I'd estimate in the worst case, passive bi-amping with the 3700 is as good as adding 25 watts to its output. Depending on the content it could be like adding 50. You could even send the LFE signal to height 1s and to connect two subs! And if that's not enough, LFE again to the centre channel to hook up one of those fancy couch shakers lol. It’s also compatible with Google Chromecast and AirPlay 2. The only downside is that it doesn’t have built-in WiFi or Bluetooth support. The Denon AVR-X3700H is also a 7.2 channels AV receiver with 100 watts per channel. No, Denon is not made by Onkyo. The two companies are competitors in the home audio market, with Denon being a Japanese company and Onkyo being a Taiwanese company. While they both offer high-quality products, there are some key differences between them. The latest in HDMI support: With 7 advanced HDMI inputs and 3 HDMI outputs with full HDCP 2.3 support, connect to all your favourite media devices and output up to three displays.

To the topic at hand: you're both still missing my point. I'm not saying passive bi-amping with a receiver doing all 4 channels is as good as passive bi-amping with the receiver doing 2 channels and an external amp doing 2 channels. I'm not saying passive bi-amping (of any combination) will perform as well or better as an amplifier rated for twice the power Commonly, 8 ohm rated speakers have impedance dips to about 4 ohms in their midbass region - between 100 and 350hz. This region of the audio spectrum contains a lot of energy in music and movies. And if you have any Alexa-enabled devices in your home, you can use them to control the receiver with your voice.Phono input: With the included phono input, the AVC-X3700H lets you connect your turntable and play vinyl records. Enjoy your collection with exceptional quality and sound. If the Denon 3700 is driving an 8 ohm speaker which is 4 ohms in the treble and 4 ohms in the midbass (B&W 683) with loud, midbass heavy content with crisp, loud highs (30 volts) with 4 channels (2 to woofers, 2 to midranges/tweeters - a passive bi-amp), the highs which would normally be distorted because of too much current being demanded by the woofers at 30 volts, are not distorted. The lows are a bit less distorted because there's about 30% less current being drawn by the midrange/tweeter, and the distortion that is there is not really perceived by the brain because the highs are clear. In addition to the lower distortion, the bass is also a bit louder from the extra current. Popping noise volume and frequency has been reduced with this new receiver. Apple TV popping noise is an issue with Apple TV 4K probably as said by everettT. I mean I sometimes hear low volume pop from one of my speaker( this changes randomly) There’s a lot to like about both the Onkyo TX-NR797 and the Denon AVR-X3700H. They’re both 7.2 channel receivers with support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, they have similar power output, and they offer a wealth of features for customizing your home theater experience. So which one should you buy?

The X3700H has seven HDMI inputs, and three HDMI outputs, all of which can handle 4K/60Hz, HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. One of the inputs and one of the outputs also support the latest HDMI 2.1 specs, such as 8K/60Hz, 4K/120Hz, VRR, ALLM, and eARC. The wealth of rear connections might seem daunting, but you’ll primarily be using HDMI, which makes things simpler because the receiver will automatically identify connected sources. Denon also clearly colour-codes all the inputs and speaker terminals, making set-up relatively painless. You probably won't bi amp though, unless you have a huge room and your speakers have nasty low impedance dips in the bass region which cause HF distortion. If you had this problem with the 3700, having the 4700 wouldn't fix anything). I think your speakers are fine though. Reasonably efficient (90db/w) too.A not entirely unimportant innovation or improvement is the disabling of internal power amplifiers. This allows the AVR-X3700H to be used as a preamplifier for external power amplifiers. As usual with Denon, the AVR-X3700H has another speaker configuration for alternative storage of speaker setups. Unfortunately, neither FM nor DAB+ is available, which is why this device can only act as an amplifier and not as a receiver. Denon AVR-X3700H Review: Streaming & Multimedia The beautiful thing about the home theater systems of today is how flexible they are in terms of configuration. If cable management isn’t your thing, and you want to have elements out of sight and out of mind, then a home theater receiver probably isn’t ideal. It has similar features to the Onkyo receiver, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support, 4K HDR pass-through, and Google Chromecast and AirPlay 2 compatibility. However, it does have built-in WiFi and Bluetooth support. So, which one should you choose? So: Passive bi-amping results in lower distortion at all levels. When passively bi-amping (with a receiver or otherwise) the higher the level, the more distortion is lowered (compared to non bi-amped) In terms of audio, the AVC-X3700H retains the 11 channels of processing that were upped from seven on the last iteration of this model. There are nine power amplifier channels built-in, each feeding a claimed 180W of power per channel. That means you can set the AVC-X3700H up in a 5.2.4 or 7.2.2 Dolby Atmos configuration, or add an extra two-channel amp to make full use of the processing power with a 7.2.4 set-up.

Amazing audio built on 110-years of innovation: Denon is the defining audio company of Japan. Founded in 1910, we enable the moments that matter through the relentless pursuit of quality, innovation and audio performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

In terms of sound, the receiver is very good, not least with 3D sound formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, which give a giant semisphere of sound around the listener.
